Job summary

Penspen Ltd is seeking an experienced Lifting Supervisor / Appointed Person in Abu Dhabi to provide PMC oversight and technical assurance for lifting and hoisting on Oil & Gas projects. The role requires acting as the SPA for lifting operations, ensuring proper planning, risk assessment, control and execution in line with procedures and standards.

Requirements include engineering qualifications, Appointed Person certification, SPA authority, and proven lifting planning/inspection competencies

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Engineering.
• Mandatory certification/competency as an Appointed Person for Lifting Operations.
• Demonstrable certification to act as the SPA for lifting operations.
• Valid certification/competency in lifting planning, crane operations, and lifting equipment inspection/assessment.
• Additional lifting certifications (CPCS/NPORS/LEEA or equivalent) are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide PMC oversight and technical assurance for lifting and hoisting operations on Oil & Gas projects.
• Act as Single Point Authority (SPA) / Appointed Person for lifting operations.
• Ensure lifting activities are properly planned, risk assessed, controlled and executed per approved procedures and standards.
• Review contractor lifting plans, load charts and rigging arrangements for compliance.
• Audit and supervise multiple contractors/subcontractors as needed.

Lifting Supervisor

Abu Dhabi

We are seeking an experienced PMCLifting Supervisor / Appointed Person to provide PMC oversight and technical assurance for lifting and hoisting operations on Oil & Gas projects. The position will act as the Single Point Authority (SPA) / Appointed Person for lifting operations, with overall responsibility for ensuring that lifting activities are properly planned, risk assessed, controlled, and executed in accordance with approved procedures, applicable standards, and project requirements.

Required Qualification & Certification

• Degree or Diploma in Engineering.


• Mandatory certification/competency as an Appointed Person for Lifting Operations, recognized by the client/project and applicable lifting standards.


• Demonstrable certification and experience to act as the Single Point Authority (SPA) for lifting operations.


• Valid certification/competency in lifting planning, crane operations, and lifting equipment inspection/assessment as applicable.


• Additional recognized lifting qualifications such as Lifting Supervisor, Crane/Lifting Appointed Person, CPCS/NPORS, LEEA, or equivalent internationally recognized certification will be advantageous.

Required Experience

• Minimum 10–15 years of relevant experience in lifting operations, lifting supervision, lifting engineering, or construction within the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, LNG, Refinery, or major infrastructure sectors.


• Strong experience in PMC/consultancy or client-side project environments with responsibility for reviewing and controlling contractor lifting activities.


• Demonstrated experience as an Appointed Person / Lifting Appointed Person with authority for planning and approving lifting operations.


• Experience in heavy lifting, critical lifting, tandem lifting, complex crane operations, and lifting of process equipment.


• Experience with cranes and lifting equipment including mobile cranes, crawler cranes, tower cranes, gantry systems, hydraulic lifting systems, chain blocks, hoists, spreader beams, lifting beams, slings, shackles, and other lifting accessories.


• Experience in reviewing crane load charts, lifting capacities, rigging arrangements, crane positioning, ground bearing requirements, and lifting radius calculations.


• Experience working on EPC/PMC Oil & Gas projects, preferably with ADNOC or other major Middle East operators.


• Previous experience supervising and auditing multiple contractors/subcontractors is highly desirable.
