Job summary

Target Engineering Construction Co. LLC is seeking a Lifting Engineer to lead and execute complex lifting operations for oil & gas EPC projects in the UAE. The role requires coordinating lifts, selecting equipment, and ensuring safety, permits, and plans are in place.

You will prepare lifting plans, oversee equipment maintenance and load stability, and verify certificates. Minimum 7 years of offshore/onshore lifting experience is essential, with a Bachelor’s or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering required.
• Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in offshore and onshore lifting in oil & gas EPC.
• Experience as Appointed Person for lifting equipment; able to write lifting plans and supervise critical lifts.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, control and execute lifts as in-charge.
• Select suitable lifting appliances and accessories for tasks.
• Ensure ADNOC permit-to-work and JSA compliance.
• Prepare lifting plans and controls for lifts.
• Ensure equipment maintenance, inspection and suitability for use.
• Check load integrity and stability; ensure certificates are available.
• Ensure personnel competence and awareness of tasks and procedures.
• Brief involved personnel and monitor lift execution per plan.
• Manage concurrent operations that may affect lifts.

Your Role

As a Lifting Engineer, you will:

• Designated as being in-charge of coordinating, controlling and executing the lift
• Select suitable lifting appliance and lifting accessories for the specific task
• Ensure that the requirements of ADNOC permit to work and job safety analysis are complied with.
• Prepare the Lifting plan and ensures that the required controls are in place
• Ensures that the lifting equipment is maintained, inspected and appropriate for use
• Checks that load integrity and stability is satisfactory
• Ensures that all necessary inspection/test certificates are available
• Ensure the people involved are competent to perform their task, aware of the task and procedures to be followed, and aware of their responsibilities
• Briefs people involved in or affected by the lift
• Ensures the lift is carried out following the plan. Suspends the lift if changes or conditions (e.g. wind) occur that would cause a deviation from the plan;
• Monitors the performance of all involved personnel to ensure that adequate standards of performance are maintained;
• Manages any special issues such as language barriers and new/inexperienced staff.
• Checks that there is no deviation from standards for routine lifts
• Shall allow for concurrent or simultaneous operations that may affect or be affected by the lift e.g. helicopter operations, ballast control, other cranes.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience: Must have a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in offshore and onshore lifting in the oil and gas EPC industry.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, or related field)
• Expertise: Have adequate training and hands-on professional experience and be competent to act as Appointed person for lifting equipment. Be able to write lifting plans, supervise and execute critical lifting in oil and gas companies. Familiar with international standard related to lifting engineering practices with sufficient knowledge in interpretation and to bring excellence in change management.
