- Select appropriate cranes, lifting equipment, rigging accessories, and lifting configurations based on project requirements.
- Assess lifting operations involving mobile cranes, crawler cranes, tower cranes, telehandlers, and other lifting machinery, as applicable.
- Review crane load charts, lifting capacities, rigging arrangements, and equipment specifications to ensure operational suitability.
- Coordinate with project managers, site engineers, crane operators, riggers, and lifting supervisors to ensure safe and efficient execution of lifting activities.
- Conduct site inspections to assess ground conditions, access routes, overhead obstructions, underground services, and other potential lifting hazards.
- Ensure that lifting equipment, including slings, shackles, hooks, wire ropes, and spreader beams, is certified, inspected, and suitable for the intended operation.
- Verify the validity of third-party inspection certificates for cranes and lifting accessories, as required by project and regulatory standards.
- Develop and implement safe lifting procedures in accordance with approved lifting plans and applicable safety requirements.
- Provide technical guidance to lifting supervisors, riggers, crane operators, and site teams regarding lifting arrangements and safe operating practices.
- Participate in toolbox talks, lifting coordination meetings, and safety briefings before critical lifting operations.
- Ensure that lifting operations are conducted by competent, authorized, and appropriately certified personnel.
- Monitor compliance with lifting plans and stop operations if unsafe conditions, equipment defects, or deviations from approved procedures are identified.
- Investigate lifting-related incidents, near misses, and equipment failures, and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain accurate records of lifting plans, risk assessments, equipment certificates, inspection reports, and lifting-related documentation.
- Coordinate with the maintenance team to ensure the availability, inspection, and operational readiness of cranes and lifting equipment.
