About the job

Based at the Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental, Abu Dhabi within the Leisure Department, the Lifeguard is responsible for guest safety at the poolside. The Lifeguard reports to the Assistant Operations Manager.

Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure the safety of guests and employees in designated swimming areas during business hours.
  2. Hold valid certification from a recognized Lifeguard Association and maintain active status.
  3. Perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and operate AED machines.
  4. Swim 400 meters in 8 minutes to meet hotel standards.
  5. Set up lifesaving equipment, including floatation devices and flags, and ensure rescue equipment is ready.
  6. Supervise swimming activities, enforce safety policies, and warn of hazards.
  7. Respond to emergencies, administer first aid, and rescue distressed swimmers.
  8. Inspect and maintain pool and beach facilities and equipment.
  9. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and hotel policies.
  10. Maintain communication via emergency and operation radios.
  11. Keep the swimming areas free from hazardous objects and unauthorized watercraft.
  12. Report hazards and ensure safety protocols are followed.
  13. Perform routine cleaning and chemical testing of the pool area.
  14. Adhere to all hotel safety, fire, health, and employee regulations.
  15. Report punctually in uniform and follow all company policies.
