Job description

Our client, a global healthcare provider, is looking for a Data Protection/Regulatory Lawyer to lead a small team of lawyers in their life sciences group. This is a key commercial role with a focus on government projects and work across pharma, biotechnology, medical devices, and digital health.

The client seeks a head of department with 8-10 years of PQE.

Key responsibilities:
  • Draft, review, and advise on complex IP agreements, biopharma partnerships, and other commercial contracts in the life sciences and healthcare sectors. The client base includes multinational companies, investors, and innovative startups.
  • Support clients in technology commercialization, impacting growth and patient outcomes by helping bring new therapies and products to market. Engage with entrepreneurs, investors, and clients directly, with varying levels of independence based on experience.
  • Work primarily involves life sciences and healthcare, with opportunities in deeptech sectors like semiconductors, fusion energy, batteries, materials, robotics, quantum computing, cryptography, and AI, as well as neighboring fields such as cleantech, defense, and space tech.
Knowledge, skills, and experience required:
  • Excellent academic background – a STEM undergraduate degree is helpful but not essential.
  • Qualified solicitor with relevant experience from a top-tier UK or international practice.
  • Experience advising in a reputable life sciences team, working with clients in pharma, biotech, or medtech industries.
  • Strong background in Data Protection and Regulatory law.
  • Proven experience in drafting and reviewing contracts and agreements.
