Job description

We are seeking an experienced and organized Librarian to manage and oversee the daily operations of the university library. The role requires strong familiarity with medical databases, digital library systems, and the integration of emerging technologies, including AI-powered tools and digital research platforms. The Librarian should be committed to enhancing information literacy among students and faculty, and to continuously evolving the library's offerings in line with advancements in medical education and technology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the university library including budgeting, planning, acquisitions, and staff supervision.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures in alignment with academic standards and accreditation requirements.
  • Ensure timely acquisition, cataloging, classification, and circulation of library resources (print and digital).
  • Maintain and expand access to digital libraries, medical databases (e.g., PubMed, Scopus), and e-resources.
  • Provide reference services, research support, and training to students and faculty on information literacy, academic databases, and citation tools.
  • Coordinate with academic departments to ensure resource alignment with the curriculum.
  • Supervise library staff and student assistants, promoting a service-oriented culture.
  • Oversee archiving, inventory, and maintenance of physical and digital collections.
  • Ensure compliance with copyright, licensing, and institutional guidelines.
  • Prepare reports, usage statistics, and contribute to institutional audits and accreditations.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • A Bachelor's in Science or Healthcare field is preferred (optional but advantageous).
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a University Library or medical library setting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
  • Familiarity with international standards.
