- Oversee the daily functioning of the library, including circulation, cataloging, reference services, and inventory management.
- Ensure library services align with the academic calendar, student needs, and faculty requirements.
- Identify, evaluate, and procure books, journals, e-resources, databases, and reference materials relevant to medical and health sciences.
- Maintain up-to-date physical and digital collections in accordance with accreditation standards.
- Administer access to online databases, e-journals, and digital library systems.
- Train users in the effective use of digital resources and research tools.
- Conduct orientation and training sessions for students and faculty on research skills, citation tools, and database usage.
- Assist users with information retrieval, academic referencing, and document delivery.
- Manage integrated library management systems.
- Contribute to academic accreditation documentation and audits by providing library usage statistics, resource lists, and service records.
- Develop and implement library policies and procedures in compliance with university and regulatory requirements.
- Lead a team of library assistants and support staff.
- Schedule staff duties, evaluate performance, and ensure quality service delivery.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) or equivalent from an accredited institution.
- Additional certification in medical librarianship, health information management, or digital libraries is an advantage.
- Minimum5–7 yearsof experience in academic or medical libraries, with at least2 years in a supervisory role.
- Prior experience in a medical university or healthcare education setting is highly desirable.
- In-depth knowledge of medical and health sciences literature, journals, and databases.
- Proficiency in library management software
- Strong digital literacy and experience with e-resources and database access systems.
- Familiarity with academic referencing styles (APA, Vancouver, AMA).
- Excellent communication, instructional, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage teams, workflows, and service quality.
