Al Rabeeh Academy is seeking an enthusiastic, adaptable and committed Arabic-speaking Librarian to manage the Primary and Secondary Library.
Al Rabeeh Academy is a beautiful, purpose-built school, opened in August 2017 and is a part of a growing network of schools. Al Rabeeh Academy is a bilingual private school from FS1 to Year 13, delivering the English National Curriculum, alongside Arabic.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Library & Information Science, or equivalent diploma
- Good computer and keyboard skills
- Must be an Arabic speaker
Minimum Experience
- 2 years' experience in a school Library or Information Centre, including experience with various audio-visual formats and hardware.
Responsibilities
- The Librarian is responsible for maintaining and operating the Library Management System (LMS) – Follett Destiny. This will involve the uploading/inputting of all the information accurately on Destiny, circulating the collection, and cataloguing locally obtained Library resources.
- Maintain the environment of the Library and Independent Learning Centre (ILC) through displays, information posters, and brochures. Encourage users to respect the Library space and suggest ways that it can be improved.
- Promote the use of Destiny Quest, the end-user interface for the Library Catalogue, through professional development sessions with Faculty and scheduled sessions with students.
- Promote the use of the Library's subscribed online databases.
- Schedule and implement Library Orientation sessions for the students at the beginning of the academic year, reinforcing the Library Use Guidelines throughout the academic year through contact with Student Leadership and the Heads of the Schools.
- Liaise with the Academic Departments in the development and implementation of scheduled instruction sessions on Library Skills and Information and Research Skills for all High School students.
- Disseminate information regarding newly acquired resources, potential acquisitions/subscriptions to Academic Department Heads.
- Report any maintenance issues to facilities.
- Identify stationery and equipment requirements and use the established procurement procedures to order them.
- Perform different tasks such as clerical, computer work, and light library maintenance.
- Maintains, updates, and follows up on all acquisitions and subscriptions records, including purchase orders, invoices, receipts, etc., and notifies users regarding the status of their orders.
- Processes a variety of manual and electronic documents, files records to provide an up-to-date reference and audit trail for compliance.
- Plan, organise and execute any library-related events, book fairs, competitions, external visitors, etc.
- Have an understanding of Accelerated Reader and how you can use this to ensure all readers are reaching their potential, tracking and recording the data.
- Keep the library up to date with initiatives, research current trends and promote library-related information by constantly updating the working boards.
- Deals directly with students and staff, via telephone and email inquiries regarding stock and location of items.
