Job summary

Qualifications

We are looking for a knowledgeable, detail-oriented, and strategic Legal Manager to join our team! The ideal candidate will possess strong legal expertise, excellent analytical and negotiation skills, and the ability to provide practical legal guidance that supports business objectives while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. You will work closely with senior management, internal departments, external legal counsel, and business stakeholders to manage legal risks, review contractual agreements, oversee corporate governance matters, and protect the company's legal and commercial interests.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice and guidance to management and internal departments on a wide range of corporate, commercial, and regulatory matters.
• Draft, review, negotiate, and manage contracts, agreements, memorandums of understanding, and other legal documents.
• Ensure the company's business operations comply with applicable laws, regulations, industry standards, and internal policies.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate potential legal risks associated with business activities, commercial transactions, and strategic initiatives.
• Oversee corporate governance matters, including regulatory filings, corporate documentation, and compliance with statutory requirements.
• Manage disputes, claims, legal proceedings, and other contentious matters in collaboration with external legal counsel when necessary.
• Develop, implement, and maintain internal legal policies, procedures, and compliance guidelines.
• Review business proposals, partnership agreements, supplier contracts, and customer arrangements to protect the company's interests.
• Monitor changes in relevant legislation, regulatory requirements, and industry developments that may affect business operations.
• Coordinate with external lawyers, consultants, regulatory authorities, and other relevant parties on legal matters.
• Support mergers and acquisitions, business restructuring, commercial transactions, and other strategic projects as required.
• Conduct legal research and prepare reports, risk assessments, and recommendations to support management decision-making.
• Provide legal training and guidance to employees on contractual obligations, regulatory compliance, confidentiality, and risk management.
• Maintain accurate records of legal documents, contracts, litigation matters, and compliance activities.
• Manage the company's legal budget, external legal service providers, and related administrative expenses.
• Support internal audits and investigations by assessing legal implications and recommending appropriate corrective actions.
• Establish effective contract management processes to improve documentation, approval workflows, and compliance monitoring.
• Protect confidential information, intellectual property, company assets, and other legally sensitive business interests.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Legal Manager, Legal Counsel, Corporate Lawyer, or in a similar legal position.
• A recognized law degree or equivalent legal qualification from an accredited institution.
• Relevant professional legal qualifications and authorization to practise where required by the position and jurisdiction.
• Strong knowledge of corporate law, commercial contracts, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance.
• Demonstrated experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial agreements and legal documents.
• Excellent legal research, analytical reasoning, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to identify potential legal risks and develop practical solutions that align with business objectives.
• Strong negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• High standards of integrity, professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical conduct.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal issues in clear business language.
• Ability to manage multiple legal matters, prioritize competing deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced business environment.
• Experience managing external legal counsel, litigation matters, and dispute resolution processes is an advantage.
• Good understanding of compliance frameworks, risk management practices, and internal corporate policies.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail when managing legal documentation and contractual obligations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with contract management or legal research software is an advantage.
• A master's degree in law, corporate governance, compliance, or a related field is an advantage.
• Previous experience working in a corporate, commercial, financial services, technology, or multinational business environment is preferred.
