Overview
Emirates Islamic Legal Department is mandated to manage legal risk in line with the Bank's defined risk appetite. We provide comprehensive legal advice and strategic support to protect the Bank's interests and ensure operational excellence across all business units.
Job Responsibilities
- Providing expert legal advice and support on all dispute-related activities for the bank, including retail, commercial, corporate, and regulatory affairs.
- Managing the entire lifecycle of litigation files, including cases filed by or against the bank, from review and preparation to following up with business units and external lawyers.
- Drafting legal documents, complaints, and managing submissions to authorities such as the Police and Public Prosecution.
- Conducting legal research to develop effective solutions and strategies for complex legal issues.
- Managing relationships with and overseeing the performance of external counsel to ensure effective service delivery and cost efficiency.
- Providing oral and written legal advice to all branches, units, and departments within Emirates Islamic.
Experience & Qualifications
- A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree and / or a post-graduate Diploma in Legal Practice.
- A minimum of 2-4 years of experience within a legal department, with at least 2 years specifically in a litigation-focused role.
- Proven experience in legal management and a strong knowledge of the banking and financial services industry.
- The ability to distill and communicate complex legal advice in a clear and understandable manner to non-legal stakeholders.
- Strong technical skills in litigation management, coupled with excellent oral and written communication abilities.
