Job description

The Legal Counsel will report to the Head of DNV Group Legal Region Middle East & Asia Pacific in Singapore and will be part of a highly skilled and motivated team responsible for providing high-quality legal services and advice to the DNV Group in the Middle East & Asia Pacific Region. In this role, you will primarily focus on DNV's Inspection Business but will also advise all business areas (Energy Systems, Maritime, Digital Solutions, Accelerator, Supply Chain, Product Assurance, and Business Assurance) and support shared service functions. As a member of Group Legal, you will collaborate closely with other lawyers regionally and at Head Office.

As Legal Counsel in Dubai, you will provide legal support, engaging directly with DNV managers and employees at all levels, actively supporting the business in daily challenges.

You will analyze and identify legal risks related to:

  1. Contractual matters including drafting and negotiations
  2. Intellectual Property Rights
  3. Claims handling and litigation
  4. Procurement
  5. Regulatory issues

Responsibilities include:

  1. Promoting DNV's purpose, vision, and values, and advising on business procedures and policies
  2. Drafting, negotiating, and concluding various commercial agreements across all business areas
  3. Liaising with clients' legal advisors for negotiations and finalizations
  4. Supporting litigation and dispute resolution efforts
  5. Advising on statutory laws, regulations, and judicial developments in the region
  6. Supporting M&A activities, including restructuring and divestments
  7. Managing external counsel effectively
  8. Developing and delivering legal training to internal stakeholders
  9. Driving improvements in internal processes and governance
  10. Communicating effectively with senior management and clients to build positive relationships

Qualifications:

  • Legal training and experience from a top law firm or a reputable in-house legal department
  • Qualified lawyer with 3-5 years of experience in commercial and corporate law
  • Excellent academic credentials
  • Proficiency in English; Arabic skills are advantageous
  • Structured, pragmatic work approach

The successful candidate will play a key role in managing legal risks across our MEA APAC operations, working closely with regional leaders and reporting to the Head of DNV Group Legal Region MEA APAC in Singapore.
