Job Title : Legal Counsel & Data Privacy Officer | MAF Global Solutions | Legal

Role Summary : The Legal Counsel is responsible for providing comprehensive legal services across all business functions, including managing contracts, disputes, and advising on legal issues. The role also involves oversight of data privacy compliance, ensuring adherence to applicable laws and industry best practices.

Role Profile :

  • Review and negotiate Heads of Terms and franchise agreements with international franchisors, ensuring terms are commercially beneficial, minimize legal risks, and support global expansion.
  • Act as a trusted legal advisor across all business units, providing proactive, solutions-focused counsel on complex legal matters spanning commercial, regulatory, and intellectual property domains.
  • Manage data breach responses, ensuring timely reporting and corrective actions.
  • Translate legal documents between English and Arabic.
  • Monitor legislative developments regionally and globally, recommending legal adjustments to maintain compliance and mitigate risks.
  • Support internal audits, regulatory inquiries, and investigations related to franchising, employment practices, and business conduct.
  • Oversee employee training on data privacy best practices and manage data subject rights requests and breach responses to ensure compliance.
  • Lead or contribute to training sessions for franchisees and internal stakeholders on topics like labour law, compliance, contracts, and dispute resolution.

Requirements :

  • Bachelor's degree in Law
  • Certifications such as CIPM or CIPP / E are a plus
  • 3-5 years of experience as legal counsel, with in-house experience
  • Retail experience is a plus
  • At least one year of experience in privacy compliance or a related field
  • Familiarity with data protection technologies (DLP, encryption, anonymization, etc.)
  • Seniority level : Mid-Senior level
