Your mission :
As Legal Counsel you will provide strategic legal advice, across Epson Middle East FZCO (“EME”) and its affiliated entities in the Middle East, Turkey, Africa, and Central and West Asia (“META-CW Asia”). This role combines legal expertise with commercial acumen to support business growth while managing risk effectively.
What you will do :
Legal Advisory & Compliance
- Independently advise and support EME departments and group companies on legal matters, including contractual liabilities, corporate governance, data protection, packaging requirements, advertising, lease agreements and occasional employment law support.
- Provide expert legal guidance on competition law across META-CW Asia, ensuring compliance with regional and local regulations.
- Advise on competition law risks in commercial agreements, distribution models and strategic initiatives.
- Maintain strong working knowledge of laws and regulations in META-CW Asia, particularly consumer protection, commercial law, marketing and promotional practices.
- Implement data privacy compliance program roadmap in the region and advise business stakeholders in collecting, processing and using data privacy.
- Promote corporate integrity principles and internal policies across META-CW Asia Contract Management.
- Draft, review, update and negotiate a broad range of standard and bespoke agreements (e.g., purchase and sale, distribution, services).
- Prepare, review, and update standard form and customized legal documents for various business transactions (excluding M&A).
- Manage corporate secretary activities.
- Safeguard EME's legal interests in disputes and legal proceedings.
- Manage relationships with external counsels.
- Partner with business teams to develop practical, innovative solutions to legal challenges.
- Collaborate with SEC Legal and other Epson Group legal teams on global initiatives.
- Manage external counsel relationships for specialized matters.
- Design and deliver legal training programs for non-legal stakeholders.
- Apply legal expertise, deep understanding of EME's business, products and technologies, and commercial acumen to develop innovative, practical solutions for business challenges.
- Proactively engage with Seiko Epson Corporation (SEC) and other Seiko Epson Group Companies (SEG) to ensure alignment on global legal matters and strategic projects.
- Contribute to internal projects, leveraging legal expertise to support business functions beyond strictly legal matters.
- Develop and deliver legal education, training materials, guidance notes and reference documents to enhance legal awareness among non-legal colleagues.
- Provide coaching and mentorship to team members, fostering professional growth and enhancing the legal team's effectiveness.
What we ask for : Legal Expertise
- Licensed to practice law in a relevant jurisdiction within META-CW Asia or internationally.
- Excellent contractual interpretation and drafting skills.
- Experience working with risk, ethics, integrity, and / or compliance in META-CW Asia.
