Job summary

A legal services provider in Abu Dhabi seeks a Legal Counsel to provide expert legal advice in intellectual property law. Location: Abu Dhabi Government, Abu Dhabi Emirate, United Arab Emirates

Job Role: Legal Counsel

Duration: 6 Months Fixed

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice in the area of intellectual property law.
• Draft, review, and negotiate IP-related agreements and licenses.
• Advise on IP strategy, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance.
• Support cross-functional teams (legal, R&D, commercial, technical) on IP matters.

Qualifications And Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in law; an LLM or equivalent is preferred.
• Admitted to a recognised bar (common law jurisdiction preferred, e.g., UK, US, Australia).
• Qualified lawyer with 4 to 8 years PQE in intellectual property law.

Key Requirements

• Strong experience in both contentious and non-contentious IP matters.
• Solid understanding of trade marks, copyright, and design law; patent familiarity advantageous.
• Experience in licensing and commercial exploitation of IP.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Commercial awareness and ability to balance legal risks with business objectives.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams (legal, R&D, commercial, technical).
