This is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to the successful planning, design, and execution of critical railway systems, ensuring they meet the highest engineering standards and operational efficiency requirements.

As a Lead Track and Alignment Engineer, you will be responsible for providing expert advice and overseeing the design review of track layouts, horizontal and vertical alignments, and integration with other rail systems. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including civil, structural, and signaling engineers, to ensure seamless coordination and alignment with project objectives. Your expertise in railway track design, alignment optimization, and adherence to international standards will be essential in driving the project's success.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Lead the design management, review and optimization of railway track layouts, ensuring compliance with project specifications, operational requirements, and international standards.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance on track and alignment engineering, focusing on safety, durability, and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with civil, structural, signaling, and systems engineers for seamless integration of track designs with other rail infrastructure components.
  • Ensure all track and alignment designs comply with international railway standards, local regulations, and project-specific requirements.
  • Analyze and optimize track geometry to enhance performance, ride comfort, and maintenance efficiency while minimizing costs and land use impacts.
  • Provide technical support during construction, resolving design-related issues, reviewing contractor submittals, and ensuring adherence to specifications.
  • Conduct risk assessments related to track alignment, evaluating operational, maintenance, and environmental impacts for safety and sustainability.
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, consultants, and regulatory authorities to align project objectives and address technical concerns.
  • Implement quality control measures in track and alignment design, conducting reviews, audits, and verification to maintain engineering excellence.
  • Stay updated on the latest rail engineering technologies and best practices, integrating innovative solutions to enhance project outcomes.
  • Conduct and review feasibility studies, site investigations, and technical assessments for railway projects.
  • Prepare and review detailed engineering reports, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for various project phases.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and team members.
  • Ensure adherence to quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) procedures throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Liaise with clients and stakeholders to address concerns and provide regular progress updates.
  • Manage budgets and resources effectively to ensure projects are completed within allocated timeframes and financial constraints.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Railway Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)
  • Professional Engineer (PE), Chartered Engineer (CEng), or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
  • 10-15 years of proven experience in railway track and alignment design for high-speed rail and mainline freight and passenger rail projects. Metro and light rail transit project experience is beneficial.
  • Extensive knowledge of railway track geometry, alignment design, and interaction with other rail systems.
  • Strong understanding of international railway design standards, including AREMA, UIC, EN, BS, or equivalent local regulations.
  • Experience using rail alignment and track design software such as Bentley OpenRail, Civil 3D, MicroStation, or similar tools.
  • Strong background in track construction methodologies, material selection, and maintenance best practices.

What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

  • Effective oral and written communication skills for client presentations, technical reporting, and correspondence.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills to address complex engineering challenges and recommend optimizations.
  • Understanding of the delivery process and construction management functions for large-scale projects.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with experience engaging clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
  • Ability to lead teams, mentor junior engineers, and manage project deliverables within tight deadlines.
  • High attention to detail, ensuring quality assurance and compliance with engineering standards and project requirements.
  • Proficiency in budget development and cost accounting.
  • Ability to interface effectively with all levels of the project team, clients, and other stakeholders.
  • Skilled in reading, analyzing, and interpreting complex documents.
  • Capable of responding effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints.
