Job Description

Wood is recruiting for a Lead Telecom Engineer to join its UAE Business Unit, focusing on leading telecom activities for a Major Onshore Brownfield Project in Sharjah, UAE, on a 5/2 work schedule.

This role is a full-time office-based position in Sharjah, UAE, with potential travel.

Responsibilities

• Designing and leading telecom activities for projects, ensuring compliance with project and cyber security requirements.
• Providing interfaces with third-party systems and ensuring telecom systems follow industry codes and standards.
• Supporting interfacing between telecom systems and vendors, including Digital System Integrators, and other EPC contractors.
• Ensuring telecom engineering activities adhere to project specifications and approved variations.
• Delivering quality telecom design, including safety aspects and execution planning.
• Leading work execution, ensuring technical alignment among stakeholders from both PMT and EPC Contractor.
• Guiding EPC contractors to complete telecom designs as per specifications.
• Preparing telecom engineering deliverables such as design basis, specifications, system diagrams, datasheets, and reports.
• Performing calculations related to radio coverage, fiber optic links, capacity, and power consumption.
• Developing telecommunication system architecture diagrams.
• Providing engineering input for drawings and site surveys.
• Attending interface meetings with clients and vendors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Telecom Engineering or Electronics and Communications Engineering.
• 15+ years of experience in telecoms within large Oil & Gas facilities, with broad knowledge of engineering standards, design, construction, and operations.
• Proven track record of delivering complex telecom EPC projects internationally.
• Hands-on experience with telecom equipment and systems design, security systems, networks, and hazardous area requirements.
• Proficiency in fiber optic and copper cabling network design.
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, with fluency in English.
