Context

We are looking for a Sustainability and Environmental profile to lead the sustainability and environmental initiatives for a significant metro rail project. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to minimize the environmental impact of the project and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

Missions/Main Duties

• Develop and implement the project's Sustainability and Environmental Management Plan (SEMP).
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, standards, and best practices throughout the project lifecycle.
• Conduct environmental impact assessments and risk analyses to identify potential environmental issues.
• Collaborate with project teams to integrate sustainable practices into design, construction, and operation phases.
• Monitor and report on the project's environmental performance and sustainability metrics.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies, stakeholders, and the community to address environmental concerns and promote sustainability initiatives.
• Provide training and guidance to project team members on sustainability and environmental practices.
• Lead efforts to achieve relevant sustainability certifications and accreditations for the project.
• Stay informed about industry trends and advancements in sustainability and environmental management.

Profile/Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, or a related field
• Minimum of 15 years of experience in sustainability and environmental management, preferably in metro, rail or infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, standards, and sustainability practices.
• Experience in conducting environmental impact assessments and audits.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Professional certification in sustainability or environmental management (e.g., LEED, ISO 14001).
• Experience with large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge of climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies.

Preferably with UAE or GCC experience.
