Position Title : Lead Process Engineer - KBR Consulting International, based in Al Khobar - Saudi Arabia

Background

KBR Consulting International specializes in the Front-end Loading (FEL) phases of engineering projects, from pre-feasibility to preliminary Front End Engineering Design (pre-FEED). We undertake small FEEDs and provide consultancy services through to later project phases, often involving new technologies and areas.

Our clients range from large international companies to smaller independents. We are actively involved in energy transition projects, including hydrogen, ammonia, decarbonization, biofuels, and offshore minimal manning facilities. Our work includes strategy development, financial modeling, energy optimization, and asset performance maximization.

We have supported major industry investments and acted as lenders' advisors on over 200 projects across sectors such as oil and gas, chemicals, mining, power, and infrastructure.

The process engineering team plays a central role in designing projects, providing technical expertise and problem-solving skills to develop optimal solutions in collaboration with other disciplines, ensuring safety, robustness, and cost-effectiveness.

You will work in small project teams on concept development and early project definition in sectors like Oil and Gas, Refining, Petrochemicals, Decarbonization, Renewable Energy, and Energy Transition.

As a Lead Process Engineer, you will :

  • Provide technical guidance during Feasibility and Conceptual studies.
  • Ensure high-quality project documentation aligned with schedules.
  • Interface with client technical teams to present findings and discuss issues; travel may be required.
  • Mentor and supervise junior engineers.
  • Lead or participate in project and study teams based on scope.
  • Contribute to business development through technical input on proposals.

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in chemical engineering or related field.
  • At least 10 years of process engineering experience in industry sectors such as:

Upstream Oil and Gas

  • Oil Refining
  • Renewables

Experience may be from consultancy, design offices, or operating companies. Significant front-end process design experience is preferred.

Saudi nationals or Iqama holders are preferred. Bilingual proficiency in Arabic and English is advantageous.

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Membership in a professional institution (e.g., IChemE, AIChE) and Chartered Engineer status are preferred.
