Lead Piping Engineer

The Lead Piping Engineer is responsible for overseeing the design, development, and implementation of piping systems for industrial and commercial projects. This role involves leading a team of engineers and designers, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and optimizing piping layouts for efficiency and safety. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in piping engineering, strong leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities:

1. Lead the design and engineering of piping systems for oil & gas, petrochemical, power, and industrial projects.
2. Manage and oversee a team of piping engineers and designers, ensuring project deadlines and quality standards are met.
3. Develop piping layouts, isometric drawings, and specifications in compliance with industry codes and standards.
4. Conduct stress analysis, material selection, and pipeline routing to optimize system performance and safety.
5. Review and approve piping designs, calculations, and technical documentation.
6. Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, procurement teams, and construction personnel to ensure seamless project execution.
7. Perform site visits and inspections to assess project progress and resolve technical issues.
8. Ensure compliance with international standards such as ASME, API, ANSI, and other relevant piping codes.
9. Participate in project planning, scheduling, and cost estimation activities.
10. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and support their professional development.

Requirements:

1. Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
2. Minimum of 10 years of experience in piping engineering, with at least 3-5 years in a lead or supervisory role.
3. Strong knowledge of piping design, stress analysis, material selection, and fabrication processes.
4. Proficiency in industry-standard software such as AutoCAD, PDMS, PDS, Caesar II, or E3D.
5. Experience working on large-scale oil & gas, power, or industrial projects.
6. Familiarity with international piping codes and standards (ASME B31.3, API, ANSI, etc.).
7. Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills.
8. Ability to manage multiple projects and work under tight deadlines.
9. Experience with site supervision and construction support is an advantage.
