Job summary

Synapsco is looking for a Lead Metallurgy, Corrosion and Coating Engineer based in Dubai, UAE. The successful candidate will supervise and coordinate Material and Corrosion Engineering of EPC Contractors, ensuring compliance with HSE standards.

This role requires at least 15 years of experience in the oil and gas sector and expertise in corrosion analysis and project management.

An advanced degree in Materials/Metallurgy or related disciplines is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 15 years of experience in Material and Corrosion in oil & gas projects, especially for onshore fields.
• Experience in all stages of project development including Basic and Detailed Engineering and Construction.
• Advanced knowledge of corrosion degradation mechanisms.

Lead Metallurgy, Corrosion and Coating Engineer

Responsibilities

• Supervision and coordination of Material and Corrosion Engineering of EPC Contractors
• Project and cost management in liaison with other disciplines
• Technical papers preparation to support management position for clarifications/ decisions with regulatory authorities of host countries, other entities or partners
• Deviation requests coordination to the project referential, in a timely manner and with due consideration to cost and schedule
• Participation during key project reviews, plot plan reviews, HAZOP reviews, constructability review and design/model review meetings
• Review of Material and Corrosion documents in accordance with industry standards, codes and TotalEnergies specifications such as MSD, etc
• Ensure the respect of the technical rules on construction discipline (correct usage of TotalEnergies’s General Specifications and international norms)
• Ensure all interfaces to other disciplines are clearly defined and correctly engineered
• Support to possible technical queries and derogations to Project specifications (technical, costs, planning, interfaces, reporting)
• Contribution to the evaluation of engineering, procurement, construction, installation and review/approval of deliverables from the design contractor (Engineering drawings, calculation notes, specifications, procedures...)
• To comply with HSE requirements and to support and enforce the HSE Project objectives and directives
• To support and implement the Project HSE management system (plans, procedure and specifications)

Requirements

• Advanced expertise is required: In Material and Corrosion in oil & gas project/industry specially for onshore fields – 15 years minimum is required
• In project at all life-cycle stages of project development (Basic and Detailed Engineering, Construction, etc)
• Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Materials/Metallurgy, Chemistry/Chemical Engineering or related disciplines
• Knowledge of corrosion degradation mechanisms and experience in corrosion monitoring and analysis
• Hands on experience on Corrosion rate calculation on software like Predict, ECE, etc
