Job summary

Confidential Company in Abu Dhabi is seeking an experienced ICSS Engineering Lead to oversee FEED Detailed Engineering and EPC phases for complex control systems. You will drive architecture, control philosophies and I/O design across multi-discipline teams.

The role demands 12–15+ years in Oil & Gas or related sectors, strong DCS/PCS/SCADA expertise, and proven FAT/IFAT/SAT/commissioning experience with ADNOC standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation/Control Systems/Automation/Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 12–15+ years of relevant Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, LNG, Refinery experience.
• Strong ICSS/Instrumentation & Control System engineering experience in FEED, Detailed Engineering and EPC.
• Extensive knowledge of DCS/PCS, ESD/SIS, Fire & Gas, PLC and SCADA.
• Solid understanding of ICSS architecture, control logic, Cause & Effect, interlocks, alarms and IO systems.
• Experience in system integration and interfaces between ICSS, package units and third-party systems.
• Proven FAT/IFAT/SAT, commissioning and start-up experience.
• Knowledge of IEC61508/IEC61511, ISA standards and ADNOC standards.
• Vendor/OEM coordination and Technical Bid Evaluation experience.
• Strong multidisciplinary coordination and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for ICSS activities across FEED, Detailed Engineering and EPC phases.
• Develop system architecture, control philosophies, design specs and I/O lists.
• Review and coordinate integration of ICSS with package units and third-party systems.
• Oversee FAT, IFAT, SAT and system integration testing.
• Support pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up and troubleshooting of ICSS.
• Mentor junior engineers and liaise with Process Instrumentation, Electrical, IT/OT and other disciplines.
• Ensure compliance with ADNOC standards and ISA/IEC codes.

Responsibilities

Execute and provide technical leadership for ICSS Engineering activities throughout FEED Detailed Engineering and EPC project phases Develop review and coordinate ICSS system architecture control philosophies functional design specifications logic diagrams Cause Effect diagrams I O lists and system configuration documents Provide technical expertise for DCS PCS ESD SIS Fire Gas F G PLC and SCADA systems Review and ensure proper integration of package control systems and third-party systems with the main ICSS Review engineering deliverables including system architecture drawings network architecture control narratives logic diagrams alarm management I O allocation communication interfaces and system specifications Coordinate with Process Instrumentation Electrical Telecom IT OT and other disciplines to resolve technical and interface issues Review vendor and EPC contractor documents technical specifications drawings and engineering deliverables Participate in Technical Bid Evaluations TBE vendor clarification meetings and technical discussions Review and witness FAT IFAT SAT and system integration testing Support pre-commissioning commissioning start-up and troubleshooting activities related to ICSS systems Participate in HAZOP HAZID SIL LOPA Alarm Rationalization and other process safety design reviews Ensure proper implementation of control logic interlocks permissives alarms trips shutdown functions and Cause Effect requirements Ensure all ICSS Engineering activities comply with ADNOC standards project specifications IEC ISA standards and applicable international codes Monitor engineering progress identify technical issues and provide effective solutions within project schedules Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and coordinate with system vendors OEMs

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Instrumentation / Control Systems / Automation / Electrical / Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
• 12–15+ years of relevant experience in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, LNG, Refinery or related industries.
• Strong experience in ICSS / Instrumentation & Control System Engineering within FEED, Detailed Engineering and EPC projects.
• Extensive knowledge of DCS/PCS, ESD/SIS, Fire & Gas, PLC and SCADA systems.
• Strong understanding of ICSS architecture, control logic, Cause & Effect, interlocks, permissives, alarms, shutdown philosophy and I/O systems.
• Experience in system integration and communication interfaces between ICSS, package units and third-party systems.
• Proven experience in FAT, IFAT, SAT, commissioning and start-up of control and safety systems.
• Good knowledge of IEC 61508, IEC 61511, ISA standards and applicable Oil & Gas industry standards.
• Strong knowledge of ADNOC Engineering Standards/Specifications and project requirements.
• Experience in vendor/OEM coordination, technical document review and Technical Bid Evaluation.
• Strong multidisciplinary coordination, technical problem-solving and communication skills.
