Lead HSE Engineer (Construction)

Wood is currently recruiting for an experienced PMC Lead HSE Engineer (Construction) for one of our key clients in Abu Dhabi as part of our Oil, Gas & New Energies business.

Due to the nature of the projects and client expectations, the position will be client office-based with a possibility of onshore site-based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Lead HSE Engineer with a proven track record in robust cost and schedule management, ideally coming from a cost control background, to take on a high value portfolio of projects for a high-profile client.

Responsibilities

• To manage the HSE engineering and design team.
• To have single-point responsibility for all HSE engineering deliverables and ensure that they conform to all applicable engineering codes and standards as well as the Client's policies and procedures.
• To ensure that the overall project is delivered to meet the asset operational needs.
• To provide direction and guidance on all technical queries relating to HSE engineering.
• To participate in all project safety and design reviews as necessary.
• To ensure that all work is completed without compromise to quality and is delivered according to the project schedule.
• To liaise with the Client's Engineering, Operations and Maintenance staff as required to ensure a consistent approach to project completion.
• To promote safe behaviors at all times.

Qualifications

What makes you remarkable

• Bachelor Degree in Safety, Industrial Engineering, or any related engineering fields.
• Minimum 15 years in HSE management and technical safety engineering experience in the Oil and Gas industry, specializing in safety design onshore related projects.
• Minimum of 15 years experience in the oil and gas industry.
• Minimum of 5 years proven capability as a Lead Engineer in an engineering design company.
• Experience working in onshore upstream EPC projects is mandatory.
• Previous experience of working in the Middle East would be an advantage.
• Thorough knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of process engineering design and analysis.
• Thorough awareness of relevant international codes and standards.
• Familiar with the typical software packages that are used for process engineering design and selection.
