We are a venture-scalable logistics tech business, incubated by one of the UAE’s largest family-owned logistics groups.

Our platform aggregates last-mile carriers across 37+ countries via a single API and already generates recurring revenue while onboarding Tier-1 e-commerce and logistics clients.

We need a hands-on senior engineer to own day-to-day architecture and delivery, embed modern DevOps practices, and mature into the CTO role. You will set technical direction, ship high-quality code, and build a team capable of scaling a mission-critical platform.

You will lead the day-to-day execution of our product’s backend and cloud architecture, contribute directly to engineering output, and gradually grow into a broader CTO capacity. This includes setting technical direction, implementing DevOps best practices, and aligning development output with commercial goals.

The ideal candidate has advanced experience with Python / Django, REST API development, Git, and Azure, along with solid SQL / PostgreSQL skills. Experience with CI / CD, scalable infrastructure, and Vue.js is a plus. Logistics or eCommerce exposure is beneficial but not required.

Organisation Chart

This role reports to the Chief Operating Officer and works closely with product, operations, finance, and commercial stakeholders. You will lead a lean engineering team (currently 5+2) and play a key role in future hiring, culture, and technical decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the full application lifecycle : design, development, deployment, monitoring, and optimisation
• Architect and evolve the platform backend with scalability, reliability, and maintainability in mind
• Translate product and commercial priorities into executable engineering plans
• Implement sound development practices, including Git workflows, CI / CD pipelines, and structured testing
• Drive technical documentation, operational readiness, and infrastructure improvements
• Manage and mentor a growing team of engineers; contribute to team hiring and onboarding
• Participate in technical due diligence and positioning as part of a potential carve-out and external fundraising
• Work closely with product and business teams to align roadmap delivery with commercial objectives

Note : This is a hands-on leadership role in a scaling startup. Flexibility, speed, and strong ownership are critical.

Job-Specific Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Expert-level experience in Python (Django framework)
• Proficiency with Git and source control best practices
• Strong working knowledge of REST APIs , Microsoft Azure , and scalable web architectures
• Experience working with PostgreSQL / SQL databases
• Understanding of DevOps processes including CI / CD , automated testing, and containerisation
• Ability to lead code reviews, mentor developers, and enforce engineering standards
• Exposure to logistics, supply chain, or e-commerce technology is advantageous
• Demonstrated leadership capability in early-stage or high-growth environments

Qualification & Experience

• Education : Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• Experience : 8–12 years of hands-on software development, including 2–3 years in a senior or lead-engineer capacity with responsibilities for system architecture and team mentorship.
