Job summary

Black & Grey HR Consultancy FZE is seeking a Lead Engineer to join the client's offshore project delivery team in the UAE. The role leads technical engineering across survey and subsea projects, providing discipline expertise, engineering assurance, and leadership throughout project execution.

Based at the UAE office, the position requires offshore travel during campaigns. You will mentor junior staff, develop standards, and interface with clients, regulators, and stakeholders to ensure quality

Qualifications

• 10–14 years of experience in offshore, subsea, marine, or survey engineering environments.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a lead engineering role with responsibility for technical delivery and teams.
• Proven experience leading engineering activities for offshore/subsea projects and project execution support.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering delivery for survey and subsea projects, ensuring scope, quality, schedule and technical requirements are met.
• Provide discipline engineering expertise and direction across project execution.
• Develop and approve key deliverables including method statements, specs, calculations, drawings, and reports.
• Coordinate inputs across structural, mechanical, marine, and subsea disciplines for integrated solutions.
• Mentor engineers and interface with clients, regulators and stakeholders.

Job description

Black & Grey HR is seeking a Lead Engineer to join the client's offshore project delivery team on a permanent basis. You will lead the technical engineering effort across assigned survey and subsea projects, providing discipline expertise, engineering assurance, and technical leadership throughout project execution. Acting as a senior technical authority, you will ensure engineering deliverable quality, support project teams, mentor junior engineers, and interface with clients, regulatory bodies, and key stakeholders.

This is a permanent position based at the client's UAE office, with offshore and field travel required during project campaigns. The role provides the opportunity to lead complex offshore engineering projects, support business growth initiatives, and contribute to the development of engineering standards and best practices.

Engineering Leadership & Project Delivery

• Lead engineering delivery for assigned survey and subsea projects, ensuring project scope, quality, schedule, and technical requirements are achieved
• Provide discipline engineering expertise and technical direction throughout project execution
• Develop, review, and approve key engineering deliverables including method statements, technical specifications, engineering calculations, drawings, and technical reports
• Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering inputs across structural, mechanical, marine, and subsea disciplines to deliver integrated technical solutions
• Support project managers and engineering teams in resolving complex technical challenges and maintaining project objectives

Technical Assurance & Stakeholder Management

• Act as the senior technical point of contact for clients, project managers, class societies, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders
• Review subcontractor and vendor technical documentation to ensure compliance with project requirements, specifications, and applicable standards
• Lead engineering risk assessments, HAZID/HAZOP participation, and technical change control processes
• Support engineering approvals, client submissions, and technical discussions throughout project execution
• Ensure engineering activities comply with company procedures, client requirements, and industry best practices

Team Development & Business Support

• Provide technical leadership, coaching, and mentoring to project engineers and junior engineering personnel
• Drive continuous improvement of engineering processes, templates, procedures, and technical standards
• Support business development activities through technical input for proposals, capability statements, and client presentations
• Contribute to project lessons learned and engineering knowledge-sharing initiatives

Requirements

• 10–14 years of experience in offshore, subsea, marine, or survey engineering environments
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a lead engineering role with responsibility for technical delivery and engineering teams
• Proven experience leading engineering activities for offshore or subsea projects, including technical reviews, engineering deliverables, and project execution support
• Strong experience in developing and reviewing method statements, technical specifications, engineering calculations, drawings, and project documentation
• Experience interfacing with clients, class societies, regulatory authorities, subcontractors, and vendors on technical matters
• Experience managing engineering risks, technical changes, and quality assurance processes
• ADNOC project exposure or experience working on ADNOC-approved offshore operations is a strong advantage

Certifications Required

• BOSIET or HUET — must be valid and current
• ADNOC Facility Access Approval or relevant client engineering approvals — held or ability to obtain
• Relevant discipline-specific certifications advantageous (e.g., structural, pipeline, lifting, subsea, or marine engineering certifications)
• Additional offshore safety, inspection, or engineering certifications advantageous
