Responsibilities
Wood is currently looking for a Lead Commissioning Engineer to join our team in Dubai, UAE, to support one of our operating clients.
Contract duration would be 1 year with possible extension based on client requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Participate actively in all safety initiatives, including leadership conversations, heart cards, safety reviews, and site visits.
- Ensure all commissioning activities adhere to site and project safety procedures and practices.
- Maintain a safe Permit to Work and isolation system, executing only as required.
- Supervise the safe completion of commissioning work from Pre-FEED through to execution.
- Support and supervise the project commissioning team.
- Review project scope and understand end state and value drivers.
- Gather all necessary data and develop relationships with clients to understand project requirements.
- Develop commissioning philosophy, strategy, and execution plan documents.
- Review and approve commissioning deliverables, ensuring compliance with standards and procedures.
- Coordinate with engineering to align fabrication drawings with commissioning requirements.
- Audit site activities to ensure safety, environmental, and quality compliance.
- Approve system/milestone sign-offs as required.
- Manage risk assessments and contribute to project planning, scheduling, and budgeting.
- Report on commissioning progress regularly and support audit reviews.
HSSE Responsibilities
- Lead positively on HSSE issues and promote safety and environmental protection.
- Ensure personal and team safety, proper use of PPE, and safe operation of equipment.
- Report hazards, incidents, and unsafe conditions promptly.
- Participate in HSSE risk assessments and training, and ensure compliance with safety procedures.
Qualifications
- Degree in Engineering or related field (preferred).
- 15+ years of relevant oil/gas commissioning experience.
- BOSIET / OGUK Medical certification.
- Proficiency in MS Office and project management systems.
- Training in risk management and PTW awareness.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- Deep understanding of energy and materials industry safety practices and legislation.
- Experience with HAZOPs, risk assessments, and permit management.
- Proven leadership in commissioning, start-up, and operations, including offshore experience.
- Ability to produce and review commissioning strategies and procedures.
- Strong communication skills and ability to interface with clients and teams.
