The BIM Technical Manager oversees the implementation of BIM strategies, ensuring compliance with ISO 19650 standards and UAE regulations. They manage BEPs, CDEs, and BIM standards, ensuring model coordination, QA/QC, and timely deliverables. The role includes mentoring teams, driving process automation and innovation, and managing LOD 400–500 models for large-scale residential, commercial, and hospitality projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop & implement BIM strategies
- Create and oversee project-specific BIM Execution Plans (BEP), aligned with ISO 19650 and UAE regulations (e.g., Dubai Municipality Circulars).
- Standards, workflows & CDE oversight
- Establish firm-wide BIM standards, templates, and content libraries.
- Manage Common Data Environments (CDE) ensuring data integrity.
- Model coordination & quality control
- Lead clash detection and federate models (architectural, structural, MEP).
- Perform QA/QC audits and supervise submission milestones.
- Production support & handover
- Ensure models are ahead of site activities.
- Manage 2D/3D deliverables and facilitate data handover for facilities management.
- Team leadership & training
- Mentor BIM Leads/Coordinators and conduct workshops.
- Liaise across multidisciplinary teams.
- Train stakeholders on BIM tools and best practices.
- Process optimization & innovation
- Identify areas for automation (e.g., Dynamo, Python).
- Streamline workflows and introduce innovative BIM solutions.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management.
- Experience: 8–12+ years in BIM roles (Coordinator to Manager).
- 3–5 years in leadership positions in the UAE region.
- Technical proficiency: Advanced use of Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD.
- Familiarity with BIM 360/ACC/CDE platforms.
- Strong experience with BIM LOD 400.
- Experience with BEP, EIR, MIDP.
- Certifications: Autodesk Certified Professional or equivalent.
- ISO/BIM certifications preferred.
- Leadership & communication: Strong mentoring, stakeholder coordination, and presentation skills.
- Fluency in English; Arabic preferred for some roles.
- Compliance knowledge: Strong understanding of building codes, design principles, and UAE authority requirements.
- Experience in large-scale residential, commercial, or hospitality projects.
- Problem-solving & QA mindset: Attention to detail and ability to resolve coordination, model integrity, and compliance issues.
- Tech-savvy: Familiarity with scripting (Dynamo/Python).
- Knowledge of cloud collaboration tools and emerging digital construction technologies.
