Job Purpose

Leads the assigned team of B1 Engineers ensuring the safe and efficient maintenance and repair of aircraft. In addition, performs duties of B1 Certifying Engineer and Category C to ensure that maintenance tasks on the airline and third-party aircrafts, including inspections, repairs, and component replacement is in accordance with the Airline and regulatory requirements.

Key Result Responsibilities

Category C authorization & Team Leading

  • Verify that maintenance tasks have been carried out to the required standard by the respective Certifying Engineers
  • Distributes and allocates maintenance tasks to B1 Engineers & Lead Technicians to ensure completion within assigned timelines and in compliance with airline and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor progress & manage performance of assigned B1 Engineer on shift against the assigned planned tasks to ensure timely completion.
  • Provides proper guidance to the Base Maintenance Engineers and Lead Technicians to assist them carry out their assigned maintenance tasks such as trouble shooting needed to identify and find solutions for potential and existing defects.
  • Provide regular feedback to Shift Manager on the performance and development of B1 Engineers & Technicians.
  • Escalate any concerns and issues related to assigned B1 maintenance tasks and suggest corrective measures to the Shift Managers
  • Initiate and implement cost saving projects within B1 scope.
  • Develop the skills of B1 Technicians & Engineers to their full potential and orient the new joiners into the team.
  • Manages human factors aspects of maintenance for the assigned shift, ensuring that the continuity of critical maintenance tasks is protected, by avoidance of task interruption and the proper use of handover procedures.
  • Maintains positive awareness to the cost of aircraft maintenance including use of time and materials. Minimizes unnecessary waste of consumable material and part repair cost by avoiding work duplication during maintenance.

B1 Certifying Engineer

  • Prepares and performs scheduled aircraft maintenance according to assigned task cards, ensuring that the required documentation, parts, tools and GSE are obtained and used per issued instructions.
  • Reviews assigned task cards with the Shift Manager to gain full understanding of the work, priorities, documentation requirements and cautions, prior to starting work.
  • Carries out aircraft test and inspection tasks to the standard necessary to fully identify and record any defects or damage in accordance with approved maintenance procedures.
  • Performs defect troubleshooting and rectification in accordance with Aircraft Maintenance Manuals and instructions provided by Engineering Department.
  • Signs of maintenance tasks performed or supervised within the scope of own authorization, verifying that the task card and associated documents have been completed to the required standard following completion of all maintenance.
  • Manages communications with other Engineers and Technicians related to the assigned tasks, ensuring proper coordination, continuity and handover of work.
  • Takes positive steps to protect self and other persons in the maintenance activity from any possible injury, including the use of proper GSE and protective equipment.
  • Ensures all safety measures and working procedures as well as specified rules and regulations are being considered and adhered to when carrying out or assigning any maintenance work on aircrafts.

Qualifications (Academic, Training, Languages)

  • Holds /has held an EASA Part 66 or GCAA CAR 66 B1 Aircraft Maintenance License (unrestricted) and company maintenance approvals on the Airbus A320/A321. With 2+ years of experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to lead and guide a team of Aircraft Engineers & Technicians

Work Experience

  • (Internal Candidates only) 2+ years’ experience as B1 Engineer in ABY Base / Hangar Maintenance including 1 year in a team leading capacity, with Cat C authorization experience
  • Experience & in-depth knowledge of B1 Maintenance practices and GCAA standards
