Job description

We are seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Landscape HSE Officer to ensure the health, safety, and environmental compliance of our landscape operations. The ideal candidate will implement safety protocols, conduct risk assessments, and promote a culture of safety within the landscape maintenance and development teams.

Job Type: Full-time

Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and maintain HSE policies and procedures specific to landscape operations.
• Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of landscapes and job sites to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks.
• Provide training and guidance to landscape maintenance staff on safety practices, emergency procedures, and equipment usage.
• Investigate incidents and accidents, documenting findings and recommending improvements to prevent recurrence.
• Monitor compliance with environmental regulations and promote sustainable practices in landscaping.
• Collaborate with management to develop HSE objectives and targets, ensuring alignment with company goals.
• Maintain accurate records of HSE training, incidents, and compliance audits.
• Stay updated on industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to health, safety, and environmental management.

OHS Responsibilities:

• Ensure that all crew working under them, foreman, team leaders, gardeners etc. are aware of and work in accordance with the company HSE plan and client’s HSE standards.
• Ensure that the work carried out by the workers and other related activities are per the safety regulation and client’s standard.
• Implement a safe working culture and practice.
• Hold pre-job (Toolbox Talk) meetings before starting all types of risk-involved activities.
• Investigate all incidents and near-miss cases with the help of HSE Engineer.
• Give strict instructions to supervisors and team leaders in implementing HSE policy.
• Report to operations manager and HSE Engineer regarding all incidents and unsafe conditions.
• Ensure the maintenance of all vehicles/plants/equipment.
• Initiate the necessary disciplinary measures for violation of safety procedures on site.
• Initiate changes to existing safety/operation procedures if required.
• Attend audits, OSH meetings, and OSH committee meetings with OM and HSE Engineer.

Required Managerial & Leadership Skills:

• Good interpersonal skills.
• Meet with clients regularly to ensure work is carried out effectively.
• Proven ability to perform in a site supervision role.
• Knowledgeable of current landscape practices and how to best implement them on the project.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers, and team members.
• Monitor routine maintenance and progress on reported deficiencies to ensure that maintenance is of good standard.
• Resource management (manpower and materials).
• Management of suppliers of materials for timely delivery.
• Treat client’s environment as if it were our own.
• Exceed client expectations to earn loyalty, trust, and referrals.
• Control and manage manpower, machinery, and material to achieve optimum efficiency.
• Check and measure the performed work in their line of work.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Proven experience in HSE management, preferably in landscape or construction environments.
• Strong knowledge of HSE regulations, standards, and practices.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Ability to conduct training sessions and safety presentations effectively.
• Must hold a UAE Driving License.
• Minimum 2-4 years maintenance experience is a must.

Preferred Skills:

• Certification in HSE management (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) is a must.
• Familiarity with sustainable landscaping practices and environmental impact assessments.
• Proficiency in using HSE management software and tools.
