General Purpose We are seeking an experienced Landscape Gardening Manager to oversee the care, aesthetics, and environmental performance of the resort’s grounds at Wynn Al Marjan Island. This role focuses on maintaining lush, sustainable landscapes that reflect the resort’s luxury identity and commitment to ecological stewardship. The ideal candidate will manage a team of gardeners, implement seasonal and thematic planting programs, and ensure efficient operation of landscape systems including irrigation, pest control, and turf maintenance.
Systems Operation and Technical Oversight
- Direct all aspects of landscape maintenance including mowing, trimming, planting, pruning, fertilizing, and pest control to uphold exceptional appearance and plant health.
- Develop and implement seasonal planting calendars and themed displays that reflect the resort’s branding and guest expectations.
- Manage smart irrigation systems and water-efficient scheduling to reduce waste while supporting optimal plant growth.
- Incorporate xeriscaping and native species planting to conserve water and align with the regional climate.
- Apply integrated pest management (IPM) using eco-friendly products and sustainable soil amendments.
- Conduct daily site inspections and initiate corrective actions for plant health issues, safety hazards, or service gaps.
- Operate and maintain landscape tools, machinery, and irrigation systems ensuring optimal performance and safety.
- Track and manage inventory of live plant material, landscaping consumables, and equipment parts.
- Coordinate readiness of outdoor areas for special events, seasonal refreshes, and VIP visits in alignment with resort planning.
Compliance, Safety, and Quality Standards- Ensure all landscaping operations adhere to UAE safety regulations, environmental policies, and resort procedures.
- Maintain logs for pesticide and fertilizer use, irrigation volumes, and landscape maintenance schedules.
- Inspect and calibrate equipment including irrigation controllers, mowers, and sprayers to ensure safety and accuracy.
- Implement safety training for equipment operation, PPE usage, and emergency procedures.
- Uphold luxury landscape standards and resort presentation benchmarks at all times through rigorous QA checks.
Interdepartmental Coordination and Planning- Collaborate with resort horticulture, events, and engineering teams to synchronize maintenance with broader resort activities.
- Support the resort’s greening strategies and sustainability goals through biodiversity-focused landscape programs.
- Liaise with procurement to ensure timely availability of seasonal plants, fertilizers, and equipment.
- Contribute to planning meetings related to landscaping budgets, staffing, and improvement projects.
- Ensure seamless execution of seasonal turnover campaigns, event garden preparation, and high-demand landscape activations.
Team Oversight and Staff Development- Lead a team of gardeners and technicians across planting, maintenance, and equipment functions with a focus on quality and safety.
- Assign and oversee daily tasks to maintain productivity, plant condition, and service standards.
- Conduct onboarding, skills training, and performance feedback sessions to upskill team members.
- Ensure workforce alignment with labor law, safety regulations, and resort code of conduct.
- Maintain staffing coverage during key periods including resort events, seasonal campaigns, and landscape emergencies.
Qualifications Education- Degree or diploma in Horticulture, Landscape Management, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Certifications in Sustainable Landscaping, Smart Irrigation, or Integrated Pest Management are preferred.
Experience- Minimum 7–10 years in professional landscaping, with 3–5 years in a leadership capacity overseeing high-end or hospitality-focused grounds.
- Experience managing tropical, desert, and ornamental plantings including turf, seasonal flowers, shrubs, and palms.
- Demonstrated success in planning and executing seasonal landscape displays, garden refreshes, and irrigation optimization programs.
Technical and Digital Skills- Proficient in irrigation scheduling, plant health monitoring, and sustainable horticultural practices.
- Familiar with use of Microsoft Office and landscape maintenance scheduling tools.
- Able to interpret landscape plans and manage vendors, budgets, and seasonal timelines.
Language and Communication- Fluent in English (spoken/written); Arabic is an advantage.
- Excellent coordination and reporting abilities for cross-departmental and vendor alignment.
Other Requirements- Physically able to work in hot outdoor environments and carry out landscape-related duties.
