Land Surveyor (ARABIC SPEAKER)

JOB PURPOSE

Responsible for conducting surveys to review customers’ schemes and plans and monitoring the work of survey assistants as well as other external survey parties to ensure correctness of assigned tasks and their compliance with statutory requirements.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plan, organize, conduct and direct work of one or more survey parties engaged in surveying in order to determine precise data and provide accurate information on demarcation of plots and setting out reference points/markers that will guide the in-house and clients’ construction projects.
• Conduct topographic surveys in order to identify and map the contours of the ground and existing features on the surface of the earth or slightly above or below the earth's surface.
• Review data from photogrammetric records in order to obtain reliable spatial information about physical objects and the environment as well as to ascertain measurements between objects.
• Assume legal responsibility when dealing with RAKEZ clients about different plots locations and demarcation by checking and verifying the works in order to ensure it is compliance with statutory requirements.
• Estimate quantities of earthwork for a variety of RAKEZ projects by conducting appropriate surveys and provide idea or suggestion to engineers to ensure cost saving on RAKEZ development works.
• Maintain highest standards of surveying practices, assist in supervision of construction projects and check measurement of actual work done in order to certify correct quantity and ensure the accuracy and correctness of the survey work and contractors’ compliance with project scope of works.
• Monitor the work of junior staff as well as other external survey parties to ensure correctness of assigned tasks.
• Review of utilities routing plan and advice for utilities permits. Coordinate with Utility contractors and record the actual cable location in the drawing.
• Manage survey instruments, safekeeping, timely calibration and maintenance.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:

• Diploma or bachelor's degree in a discipline related to surveying/construction or building sciences.
• A minimum of 5 year experience as a lead surveyor in the UAE.
• Good written and spoken English for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Valid UAE driver’s license
• Very good Knowledge of survey techniques used in making cross section, profile, location, topographic, and construction layout surveys.
• Very good Knowledge of local surveying principles, rules, and regulations governing land surveying.
• Ability to perform a broad range of supervisory responsibilities over others.
• Very good Knowledge of field survey engineering methods and techniques.
• Very good Knowledge of using different types of survey instruments such as Total Station, GPS etc.
• Very good Knowledge of basic computer aided drafting software such as AutoCAD and other computer aided mapping for land surveying.
• Good Knowledge of Civil Engineering and survey terminology.
• Ability to work in extreme environments (example: hot sun, heat).
• Physically fit as the work shall involve a large amount of time on site visiting RAKEZ assets.
• Ability to organize and maintain paper documents and electronic photos and files.
• The ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals with or without the use of an electronic device.
• Proficiency with smart phone applications and digital cameras.
• Basic computer skills including the ability to copy files and communicate via email.
• The ability to read plans, specifications, diagrams, equipment submittals, and material data sheets.
• An understanding of site surveying, construction sequencing, construction methods and materials.
• Must be able to follow standardized processes while working unassisted.
