Qualifications

• At least 2 years experience as a Lactation Consultant.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement standards of care guidelines for assisting breastfeeding mothers.
• Plan and coordinate patient and family member educational activities.
• Develops and maintains current breastfeeding resource materials for educational purposes.
• Assess patient breastfeeding progress and provide professional guidance and support.
• Actively participate in relevant community initiatives aimed at raising awareness and education.
• Maintain and update Key Performance Indicators according to the Baby Friendly Hospital initiative.

Skills

Breast feeding process ante-partum intra-partum and postpartum health care and psychosocial issues

Client service and related management principles

Facilitation skills and principles of adult learning

Knowledge of pharmaceuticals and the effects on lactation

Organising skills

Verbal and written communication skills in English

Verbal and written communication skills in Arabic

Education

Bachelors degree in Nursing and/or Midwifery

IBCLC certification

Post graduate qualification in Midwifery

UAE license or eligibility as Registered Nurse or Registered Midwife
