Job summary

Mandarin Oriental Abu Dhabi is seeking a Kitchen Technician in the Emirates Palace property. You will maintain and repair kitchen equipment, diagnose faults, and perform welding, plumbing, and related tasks to support hotel culinary operations.

The role requires at least 2 years in a similar hospitality position, with hands-on problem-solving skills and knowledge of electrical control systems. You will collaborate with Culinary and Stewarding teams to minimize disruption and uphold safety

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years in the same role within hospitality.
• Self-motivated with hands-on, flexible approach.
• Knowledge of kitchen equipment repairs, maintenance and installation techniques.

Responsibilities

• Attend to repair and maintenance of all types of kitchen equipment.
• Carry out welding and fabrication as required.
• Perform minor plumbing tasks including pipe repairs or fittings.
• Respond to unscheduled work requests promptly (within 15 minutes).
• Maintain clean, professional appearance and uniforms.
• Ensure plant room and workshop areas are clean and safe.

About the job

Based At the Emirates palace Mandarin Oriental Abu Dhabi within the Engineering Department the Kitchen Technician is responsible for the maintenance troubleshooting and repair of all kitchen equipment to ensure safe efficient and uninterrupted kitchen operations Conduct preventive maintenance respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and ensure all equipment is maintained in accordance with manufacturer guidelines safety standards and hotel engineering procedures Coordinate with Culinary and Stewarding teams to minimise operational disruption maintain accurate maintenance records and support the overall efficiency and reliability of kitchen operations The Kitchen Technician reports to the Kitchen Engineer

Kitchen Technician

As Kitchen Technician you will be responsible for the following duties

• Attends to repair and maintenance of all types of kitchen equipment
• Carry out electric arc or oxy-acetylene welding
• Attends to pipe repairs or fitting work including minor plumbing work
• Responding to unscheduled work requests within 15 minutes of receipt of the same
• Ensuring that the supplied uniform is clean and in good repair
• Always maintain a clean and tidy appearance before entering public areas
• Ensuring that the plant room workshop and related areas are kept clean and tidy condition
• Observing prescribed safety standards
• Helping maintain safe conditions for self and others
• Performing related duties and special projects as assigned
• Interacts with other departments when necessary to provide additional or specialized services for functions promotions and festivities
