Job Purpose

At As It Should Be, our team feeds the team. The staff restaurant is more than a canteen—it’s where energy is restored, stories are shared, and people are reminded that their work matters. As a kitchen porter, you are the silent engine that keeps this hospitality flowing.

You’re not “just on dishes.” You’re protecting hygiene, supporting chefs, and helping to create a space where every staff member is treated with care, including at mealtimes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Wash all kitchen equipment, pots, pans, utensils, trays, and service ware using manual and machine methods.
  • Clean and sanitise all kitchen areas, including floors, walls, prep surfaces, bins, and drainage points.
  • Ensure the pot wash area is clean, orderly, and stocked with soap, sanitiser, and drying racks.
  • Assist with basic food prep or ingredient washing as requested by chefs.
  • Receive, unpack, and store deliveries using FIFO and hygiene protocols.
  • Empty and sanitise waste bins regularly in both the kitchen and garden areas.
  • Support the upkeep of the staff garden eating area (wiping tables, collecting trays, sweeping floors, refilling water stations).
  • Report any maintenance or safety issues immediately (e.g. broken glass, blocked drains, faulty equipment).

Work Conditions
