Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Conduct explosive detection searches as directed by the K9 Manager, including searches for provisions, vehicles, equipment, cargo, and facilities.
• Ensure high standards of professionalism, presentation, and diligence.
• Assist and liaise effectively with client security managers, law enforcement agencies, and local partners in executing security protocols.
• Respond promptly to emergency calls and operational requirements, including high-risk sweeps and VIP events.
• Follow established training protocols and standard operating procedures when conducting searches.
• Utilize canine equipment and safety gear properly.
• Train and exercise the Explosive Detection K9 daily, ensuring health and welfare.
• Maintain records of K9 training, health, and activities.

Job Description

On schedule to open in the United Arab Emirates in early 2027, Wynn Al Marjan Island has been created as an opulent and entertaining beachside destination for discerning guests to play and relax. Located less than 50 minutes from Dubai International Airport, this integrated resort offering 1,530 rooms and suites, 22 restaurants and lounges, a theatre, nightclub, and five-star spa is currently under construction on a picturesque island that gracefully curves into the Arabian Gulf.

About the Position:

Wynn Al Marjan Island is currently seeking a K9 Handler- Protective Security Operations to join theresort’s Securityteam.

The primary duties and responsibilities of this role are:

• Conduct explosive detection searches as directed by the K9 Manager, including searches for provisions, vehicles, equipment, cargo, and facilities.
• Ensuring high standards of professionalism, presentation, and diligence always.
• Assist and liaise effectively with client security managers, law enforcement agencies, and local partners in executing agreed security protocols.
• Respond promptly to emergency calls and operational requirements, including high-risk sweeps and VIP events.
• Following established training protocols and standard operating procedures when conducting and performing operational searches.
• Properly utilize canine equipment to include safety equipment for canines.
• Properly train and exercise the Explosive Detection K9 daily, ensuring health, safety, and well-being.
• Maintain accurate records of K9 training, health, and operational activities.
• Ensure proper shelter, feeding, and veterinary care for the assigned K9.
• Adhere to all regulatory and operational protocols, including the use of required technology and reporting systems.
• Complete daily logs and operational reports accurately and on time.
• Preferred: Certification in K9 handling by international organization, or national law enforcement.

About You:

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following experience and qualifications:

• Required: Minimum 3 years’ experience in K9 handling for explosive detection.
• Preferred: Minimum 3 years' experience in cargo screening operations or critical infrastructures.
• Preferred: Prior law enforcement or military experience in K9 units.
• Good written and verbal language skills (English).
• Preferred: Good knowledge of MS Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
• The ability to make decisions under pressure.
• Knowledge of security policy and procedures.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on professionalism and positive energy.
• Ability to stay calm under pressure and respond effectively to emergencies and challenging situations.
• Ability to work flexible shifts and adapt to operational demands.
• Understanding of canine behavior and training techniques.
• Expertise in maintaining K9 health, including diet, exercise, and veterinary care.
• Familiarity with emergency response protocols and risk management.
• Be able to maintain and prepare records and reports.
• Awareness of legal and regulatory requirements for K9 operations.
• Proficiency in handling and managing K9 equipment.
