Job Description :

JOB OBJECTIVES: SUMMARY OF OVERALL JOB PURPOSE - Responsible to assist in identifying the scope of work from owners specifications, work lists and on-board requirements. To liaise with Owners & Invoicers for estimation of job.

Policies, processes & procedures:

Follow all relevant departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner. Follow and comply to information Security Rules and data security measures in order to protect the company information / intellectual properties.

Day-to-day operations:

  1. Assist in Producing necessary sketches and instructions describing the work to be carried out.
  2. Assist in Estimating resource requirements and pre-planning.
  3. Assist in Preparing Work reports for Commercial Dept.
  4. Reporting Work progress and comparing with actual planning.
  5. Issuing Material requisitions.
  6. Assist in Maintaining and updating records of all relevant production documents.
  7. Assist in Maintaining and updating safety records of all equipment in EWS department.
  8. Assist in Raising Reject Notes and approving repair methods for rejected work.
  9. Exercise discipline at the work site to prevent absenteeism, unsafe work practices and idleness.
  10. Liaise with other discipline foremen / supervision to ensure the optimum utilization of available resources, with the overall objective of successful completion of the project.
  11. Create progress reports on a daily basis and ensure that any significant information is communicated to the supervisor i.e. resource shortfalls, surplus, HSEQ concerns.
  12. Ensure that the workers are properly supplied with machineries, tools, equipment and materials and everything is in proper order and state of maintenance.
  13. Follow the day-to-day operations related to own job to ensure continuity of work.

Responsible to comply with relevant safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and controls and to behave in a manner, which ensures that their actions or omissions, do not adversely affect the environment, health, safety and wellbeing of themselves, colleagues, contractors or members of the public. Follow and comply to information Security Rules and data security measures in order to protect the company information / intellectual properties. Meeting all responsibilities as outlined in the DDW OHSMS. Participating in any training and safety initiatives implemented by the Company. Complying with all Safety directives, and work instructions. Immediately reporting any incident or potential hazard to their Supervisor or Safety Dept. STOP the task if you feel yourself or others may be harmed.

Continuous improvement: Contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of systems, processes and practices taking into account international best practice, improvement of business processes, cost reduction and productivity improvement.

Reporting: Prepare departmental reports on time and accurately to meet company and department requirements, policies and standards.

Related Assignments: Perform other related duties or assignments as directed in order to contribute to the continuous operations of the department.

Language skills: Good knowledge of English languages. Knowledge of other languages will be an added advantage. Very good knowledge in technical terms and report writing skills.

Technical competencies: Familiar with electrical schematic diagrams & other related drawings. AutoCAD and Computer proficiency. Knowledge and Experience in ship repair and new building yard. Ability to read, interpret and follow method statements and procedures, specifications, drawings, and other discipline related project and engineering documentation.

Behavioural Competencies: Good communication and people skills. Client / Customer / Team orientated. Planning and organizational skills. Ownership and accountability for all tasks undertaken.
