Job summary

Job description

Operate and monitor print processing equipment; react to any irregularities by taking corrective or remedial actions; analyse stoppages and make minor adjustments; record and report unusual occurrences, error situations, and malfunctions.

1. Set up and operate printing Flexo machinery, including screen-printing equipment.

2. Load and position the printing plates, adjust the ink supply, and paper feed.

3. Monitor the printing process to ensure that it runs smoothly and efficiently, adjusting, as necessary.

4. Inspect and examine printed materials for quality and accuracy, ensuring that they meet the client's specifications and requirements.

5. Perform routine maintenance on printing equipment, such as cleaning, lubricating, and replacing parts to ensure optimal performance.

6. Troubleshoot and resolve any issues or malfunctions that may occur during the printing process, such as paper jams or ink smudges.

7. Keep detailed records of print jobs, including quantity produced, materials used, and any issues encountered, for future reference.

8. Adhere to safety guidelines and regulations to maintain a safe working environment.

9. Overall housekeeping of the machine.

10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge, Experience Required:

• Degree/ Diploma in printing technology required.
• Knowledge of the use, operations, and repairs of Flexo printing machines
• Minimum experience of one year on a Flexo printing machine such as Gallues, Markandy, Omet, etc.
• Excellent artwork layout capability, able to troubleshoot and make correct ink adjustments to achieve the required colour match
• High emphasis on maintaining quality and accuracy in work, minimising scrap, and maximising production
• Knowledge of inks and related materials/techniques used in the printing industry.
• Ability to interact and communicate with seniors, work with helpers and finish operations as required in a high-pressure environment.
• Ability to train newly joined workers and guide their activities.
• Ability to communicate clearly and logically, both orally and in writing.
• Familiarity with various printing materials, such as paper types, inks, and finishing techniques.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and guidelines related to printing equipment operation.
• Ability to interpret and understand printing specifications, job orders, and layout designs.
• Knowledge of different printing techniques, such as colour separation, ink mixing, and plate alignment.
• Should be able to improve the production process, and reduce waste, scrap, and defects for overall cost efficiency through continuous improvement.
