Job Summary
Rock Petroleum is seeking a hands-on operator supporting physical oil movement logistics, trade capture, scheduling, terminal/STS coordination, blending supervision, documentation, reconciliation, and post-trade settlement. Daily liaison with traders, terminals, surveyors/agents, labs, and finance.
Job Responsibilities
As an Operator, your responsibilities will include:
- Trade Execution: Execute trades in accordance with established trading strategies and instructions from traders. Monitor trade confirmations and resolve discrepancies as needed
- Market Monitoring: Monitor market conditions, including prices, volumes, and trends. Alert traders to significant market movements or developments
- Order Management: Manage trade orders, including entering, modifying, and canceling orders as directed by traders. Ensure accurate and timely execution of orders
- Risk Management: Assist in monitoring and managing trading risks, including position limits, exposure limits, and margin requirements. Alert traders to potential risk exposures
- Trade Settlement: Coordinate trade settlements with counterparties and clearing houses. Ensure timely and accurate settlement of trades
- Trade Reconciliation: Reconcile trading positions, cash flows, and settlements with brokers and counterparties. Investigate and resolve reconciliation discrepancies
- Documentation: Maintain accurate trading records, including trade tickets, confirmations, and settlement instructions. Ensure compliance with record-keeping requirements
- Communication: Communicate effectively with traders, brokers, and other internal and external stakeholders. Provide timely updates on trading activities and market developments
- Compliance: Adhere to all relevant regulations, policies, and procedures governing trading activities. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal controls
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency enhancements in trading operations. Contribute to the development and implementation of best practices
Qualifications And Experience
To be successful in this role, you should:
- 2+ years in shipping/terminal operations, marine cargo inspection, or trading operations (hands-on exposure required)
- Have a bachelor's degree in Science, Finance, Economics, Petroleum Engineering, Business, or a related field
- Technical background preferred: Chemistry, Marine Studies, Petroleum/Process/Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
- Strong Excel and CTRM/ERP skills; clear written/reporting ability
- Possess strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Be able to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Demonstrate a strong interest in financial markets and trading
