Job summary

Kinetics Group is seeking a detail-oriented Junior Estimation Engineer to support cost estimation, material planning, and technical documentation for sheet metal fabrication projects.

Based in Umm Al Quwain, the role will assist with reviewing engineering drawings, preparing material take-offs and Bills of Quantities, developing nesting plans, analysing supplier quotations, and calculating manufacturing costs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline required.
• 1–2 years of estimation experience in manufacturing, sheet metal fabrication, or steel fabrication.
• Experience with BOQs, material take-offs, cost estimates, and supplier enquiries.
• Working knowledge of engineering drawings, manufacturing methods, and fabrication terminology.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Excel required.
• Familiarity with sheet metal nesting software.

Responsibilities

• Review drawings, specs and project requirements to support accurate cost estimates.
• Prepare material take-offs, BOQs, and preliminary manufacturing cost calculations.
• Develop sheet metal nesting plans to optimize material use and reduce waste.
• Calculate costs for material, labour, manufacturing and subcontracting.
• Obtain and evaluate supplier quotations for materials and services.
• Prepare commercial comparisons, cost analyses and estimation documentation.
• Coordinate with procurement to support sourcing and purchasing.
• Work with production to confirm material availability and schedule.
• Maintain estimation reports, quotation records and project files.
• Identify opportunities for cost optimization and process improvements.
• Assist in preparing timely, competitive quotations.
