Job summary

dnata is seeking a Junior Cargo Assistant to join the Cargo Team in Dubai. You will oversee the physical handling of cargo, courier and mail and ensure documentation is processed to enable safe and efficient import and export of cargo.

You will support cargo operations by supervising staff, recording cargo details, inspecting documentation, and ensuring compliance with dangerous goods and GDP requirements. This role joins a fast-paced, global aviation services provider.

Qualifications

• 10 years of schooling or equivalent.
• 3+ years of experience in logistics or cargo role.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the acceptance and delivery of cargo, courier and mail with high customer service standards.
• Supervise porters and equipment operators during build-up and breakdown of cargo and verify cargo conformance.
• Maintain inventory records and record deviations at customer request.
• Log cargo details for tracking using manual and automated systems.
• Inspect and validate all cargo documentation for safe acceptance and delivery.
• Assist officials to ensure safe movement of cargo and mail.
• Ensure dangerous goods handling complies with regulations.
• Ensure time/temperature sensitive shipments comply with GDP requirements.

As a Junior Cargo Assistant in the dnata Cargo Team, you will oversee the physical handling of all cargo, courier and mail and ensure all associated documentation is processed either manually or within automated systems to enable the safe and efficient import and export of cargo.

In this role, you will:

• Oversee the acceptance and delivery of cargo, courier and mail maintaining a high standard of customer service.
• Oversee the work of porters and equipment operators in the build-up and breakdown of cargo, courier and inspect and verify cargo at each stage to ensure conformance with defined standards
• Carry out an inventory of goods at the request of customers and record any deviations.
• Record the details of cargo accepted and delivered for tracking purposes, using manual and automated systems.
• Inspect and validate all associated cargo documentation to ensure the safe and efficient acceptance and delivery of cargo.
• Assist and support all officials to ensure the safe and efficient movement of cargo, courier and mail.
• Ensure that dangerous goods are handled in compliance with the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations.
• Ensure that the handling of time and temperature sensitive/pharmaceutical shipments demonstrate compliance with EU GDP requirements.

Qualification

To be considered for the role, you must meet the below requirements:

• Have 10 years of schooling or equivalent.
• Have 3+ years of experience in logistics or cargo role.

You’ll have an edge, if you:

• Have the ability to use computerised data recording systems.
• Have knowledge of airfreight computer applications.
• Have successfully completed cargo dangerous goods training.
