What is the role?

The Junior Buyer will support the buying team in sourcing, selecting, and procuring merchandise across various categories for a retail organization. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals seeking to develop a career in buying and merchandising within a fast-paced retail environment.

The Junior Buyer will assist in managing supplier relationships, coordinating orders, maintaining inventory levels, and supporting product planning. Working closely with senior buyers and cross-functional teams, the role provides hands-on experience in commercial decision-making and product lifecycle management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in sourcing and selecting products across multiple categories based on customer demand and market trends.
• Support the Senior Buyer in analyzing sales performance, market data, and competitor activity to inform purchasing decisions.
• Maintain up-to-date and accurate records of purchase orders, pricing, product specs, and supplier details.
• Liaise with suppliers to confirm product availability, monitor delivery timelines, and address any supply chain issues.
• Help track stock levels to ensure availability aligns with sales forecasts, seasonal peaks, and promotions.
• Assist in preparing sales reports, product performance analyses, and inventory management reports.
• Work closely with merchandising and marketing teams to ensure product launches and campaigns are well-coordinated.
• Contribute to vendor negotiations by obtaining quotes, following up on terms, and maintaining strong communication.
• Stay informed about market developments and consumer preferences to identify potential new products.
• Assist in managing the buying budget and ensuring purchasing decisions are cost-effective and aligned with company goals.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Retail Management, Fashion, or a related field.
• 1–2 years of experience in buying, procurement, merchandising, or retail operations.
• Strong interest in retail trends, consumer behavior, and product development.
• Excellent communication, organization, and analytical skills.
• Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• A team-oriented attitude with eagerness to learn and contribute in a dynamic work environment.
