Job description

Overall responsibilities:

  • Assist Automation Engineer and other site engineers as part of the Industrial Automation team, providing assistance in automation programming, design, and configuring HMI/SCADA screens.
  • Develop and implement PLC programs for industrial automation systems as assigned by the Line Manager.
  • Lead the team in installation and commissioning of PLC systems, ensuring proper integration with other equipment.

Day-to-day responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement PLC programs for industrial automation systems.
  • Design and configure HMI/SCADA screens for operator control and monitoring.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and specifications for PLC projects.
  • Troubleshoot and debug PLC programs to resolve issues promptly.
  • Conduct testing and validation of PLC programs to ensure proper functionality and performance.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to maintenance and operations teams regarding PLC systems.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in PLC technology and recommend improvements to existing systems.
  • Create and maintain documentation for PLC programs, including logic, wiring diagrams, and user manuals.
  • Oversee the installation and commissioning of PLC systems, ensuring proper integration with other equipment.
  • Collaborate with external vendors and suppliers to source and procure necessary hardware and software for PLC projects.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Instrumentation, or Mechatronics) with 0-3 years of experience in the related field/industry.

Experience Requirements:

  • Experience level: 0-3 years
  • Experience in industrial automation engineering and system integration
  • Excellent knowledge of PLC and HMI coding
  • Working knowledge of industry standards and regulations
  • HSE compliance and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams

Skills & Professional Requirements:

  • Knowledge of PLC programming languages such as ladder logic, structured text, and function block diagram
  • Proficiency in programming platforms such as Siemens, Allen-Bradley, and Schneider
  • Experience designing and implementing PLC control systems for industrial automation
  • Ability to troubleshoot and debug PLC programs and hardware components
  • Knowledge of configuration and programming of automation and control systems involving DCS, HMI, or SCADA
  • Strong knowledge of industrial communication protocols
