Job description

Job Purpose:

The Junior Accountant supports the day-to-day financial operations of the company, ensuring accurate financial records, assisting in financial reporting, handling payroll (WPS), and maintaining compliance with UAE laws and regulations.

Responsibilities:

1. Manage and execute daily bookkeeping activities, ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial transactions.
2. Process payroll and manage Wages Protection System (WPS) submissions.
3. Prepare and post monthly invoices, bank entries, and other accounting records into the accounting system.
4. Perform bank, accounts payable (AP), and accounts receivable (AR) reconciliations.
5. Maintain up-to-date sales, purchase, and accounting records to support operational and strategic goals.
6. Assist in the preparation and analysis of management accounts and financial reports for internal decision-making.
7. Compile financial statements including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
8. Monitor and file UAE VAT returns, ensuring compliance with tax regulations.
9. Support external audit processes and collaborate with auditors to ensure smooth and timely audits.
10. Assist in establishing and maintaining effective internal financial controls and procedures.
11. Stay current with changes in accounting standards, tax regulations, and industry practices.
12. Provide administrative and financial support to the management team as needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Relevant accounting certifications (e.g., CPA, CMA) are an advantage.

Experience:

• Minimum of 1 year of accounting experience, preferably within the F&B sector or a similar fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
• Knowledge of UAE VAT laws and practical experience in filing VAT returns.
• Experience handling WPS payroll processing.
• Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Hands-on experience with accounting software (e.g., SAP, QuickBooks, or similar systems).
• Knowledge of SAP and Arabic language skills are a plus.

• Aptitude for numbers and a proactive approach to financial problem-solving.
