A Joinery Cutting Lister is responsible for planning, organizing, and managing the cutting and preparation of materials for joinery projects, including furniture, doors, windows, and other wood-based products. The position typically involves working closely with a team of carpenters and other joiners to ensure that materials are cut accurately and efficiently, meeting both the design specifications and safety standards.

Job Overview:

The Joinery Cutting Lister is responsible for creating detailed cutting lists for joinery projects. This includes interpreting technical drawings and project specifications to calculate the materials needed and ensuring that all parts are accurately cut and prepared for assembly. The role requires a keen eye for detail, knowledge of joinery practices, and experience in working with cutting machinery and woodworking tools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpretation of Drawings & Specifications: Review technical drawings, plans, and project specifications to understand project requirements. Work closely with designers and engineers to clarify details and ensure accuracy in the cutting list.
  • Preparation of Cutting Lists: Create accurate cutting lists, specifying the exact measurements, quantities, and types of materials needed for each project. Organize the cutting of materials to minimize waste and maximize efficiency.
  • Material Selection: Advise on the selection of materials based on project requirements, quality, and cost. Ensure the correct grade of timber and other materials are used for each job.
  • Coordination with Workshop Teams: Work closely with the joinery team to ensure the smooth flow of materials through the workshop. Ensure that materials are cut to specification and ready for assembly in a timely manner.
  • Quality Control: Conduct regular checks on the quality of cut materials to ensure they meet the required standards. Identify any issues early in the process and work to resolve them.
  • Maintenance of Records: Maintain accurate records of cutting lists, material orders, and work completed. Update project status and keep records organized for future reference.
  • Health and Safety: Ensure that all cutting and joinery operations are carried out safely and in compliance with health and safety regulations. Maintain a clean and organized workspace. Stay up-to-date with industry trends, tools, and techniques. Suggest improvements to cutting techniques and workflows to enhance efficiency.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Joinery Cutting Lister or in a similar role within the joinery or carpentry industry.
  • Strong understanding of joinery techniques and materials.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Proficient in using joinery cutting machinery and tools.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:
