Job summary
KBR is seeking a Specialist HVAC Engineer for an offshore Abu Dhabi project. You will lead HVAC design, review and procurement support across FEED to commissioning, ensuring compliance with ADNOC standards and international codes.
Offshore facility experience and PMPMC exposure are highly valued. Suitable candidates bring 15+ years in HVAC engineering, 8+ years offshore/oil & gas, and a PE/CEng or equivalent preference.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
- Master's degree in Mechanical/HVAC Engineering advantageous.
- PE/CEng or equivalent certification preferred.
- Minimum 15 years HVAC engineering experience.
- At least 8 years in Oil & Gas, Offshore, Petrochemical, or Energy projects.
- Experience in ADNOC/Saudi Aramco/QatarEnergy or similar offshore projects.
- Experience in FEED, Detailed Engineering, EPC, and PMC projects.
- Prior offshore facility experience is highly desirable.
Responsibilities
- Lead and perform HVAC engineering activities for offshore platforms and related facilities.
- Develop and review HVAC design basis, philosophies, calculations, datasheets and deliverables.
- Perform HVAC load calculations using recognized engineering software.
- Design ventilation, air conditioning, pressurization, smoke extraction and climate control systems.
- Review vendor documents, bids and supplier drawings; ensure compliance with standards.
- Provide technical support through FEED, detailed engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning.
- Coordinate with Process/Mechanical/Electrical/Instrument/Civil/HSE teams.
- Participate in design reviews, HAZOP/HAZID/SIL and value engineering.
- Resolve technical queries and support site activities.
- Review contractor submissions and ensure project requirements compliance.

KBR is growing its Project Management Consultancy (PMC) team for an exciting, high‑profile offshore development in Abu Dhabi.
Job Purpose
Provide specialist engineering expertise for the design, review, procurement support, construction, commissioning, and operation of HVAC systems for ADNOC Offshore facilities. Ensure all HVAC systems are designed and implemented in compliance with ADNOC standards, international codes, project specifications, safety requirements, and operational objectives.
- Lead and perform HVAC engineering activities for offshore platforms, wellhead towers, artificial islands, process facilities, utility facilities, and associated infrastructure.
- Develop and review HVAC system design basis, philosophies, calculations, specifications, datasheets, and engineering deliverables.
- Perform HVAC load calculations using recognized engineering software.
- Design ventilation, air conditioning, pressurization, smoke extraction, and climate control systems.
- Review vendor documents, technical bids, and supplier drawings.
- Ensure HVAC systems meet hazardous area classifications and fire & gas requirements.
- Provide technical support throughout FEED, detailed engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including Process, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Civil, and HSE disciplines.
- Participate in design reviews, HAZOP, HAZID, SIL, constructability reviews, and value engineering workshops.
- Resolve technical queries and support site engineering activities.
- Review contractor submissions and ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Prepare HVAC technical requisitions and material specifications.
- Conduct technical bid evaluations and recommend suitable vendors.
- Review and approve vendor documents, drawings, and manufacturing procedures.
- Support factory acceptance tests (FAT) and inspection activities.
- Provide engineering support during installation, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities.
- Witness HVAC performance testing and system validation.
- Ensure compliance with project quality plans and HSE requirements.
- Support startup and handover activities.
- Ensure designs comply with ADNOC Engineering Standards, UAE regulations, and international codes.
- Promote HSE culture and ensure adherence to ADNOC Life-Saving Rules.
- Ensure HVAC systems support personnel safety, equipment protection, and operational reliability.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Master's Degree in Mechanical/HVAC Engineering is an advantage.
- Professional Engineer (PE), CEng, or equivalent certification preferred.
- Minimum 15 years of HVAC engineering experience.
- At least 8 years in Oil & Gas, Offshore, Petrochemical, or Energy projects.
