Job summary

IC Markets Global is seeking a Technical Team Lead – Java to lead a high-performance backend team in a fintech trading environment. You will drive architecture, delivery, and operational excellence across Java services, microservices, and trading integrations.

The role requires hands-on coding, technical leadership, and close collaboration with Product, QA, DevOps, and Trading teams to deliver scalable, low-latency solutions in a cloud-based setup.

Qualifications

• 7+ years backend engineering experience with Java.
• Strong experience with Java 17+ and modern backend development practices.
• Proven experience (2+ years) of leading a technical team (7+ members).
• Experience with microservices architecture and distributed systems.
• Designing REST APIs and backend integrations.
• Experience with event-driven systems and messaging.
• Cloud environments such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• DevOps collaboration on CI/CD, deployments, and environments.
• Strong communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to lead with ownership and accountability.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and guide a team of Java backend developers.
• Take ownership of the team’s day-to-day execution, priorities, delivery progress, and technical output.
• Ensure all team members have clear responsibilities, priorities, and expected deliverables.
• Break down technical work into clear tasks and assign them effectively across the team.
• Monitor team progress and proactively identify delays, risks, dependencies, and blockers.
• Act as the first escalation point for the team and help unblock issues quickly.
• Ensure the team communicates clearly and maintains accountability.
• Support onboarding, knowledge sharing, coaching, and continuous development of team members.
• Promote ownership, collaboration, technical discipline, and a delivery-focused mindset.
