Charterhouse is currently working with a rapidly growing technology company that is looking to hire an experienced IT Support Specialist to join their team. This role offers the opportunity to work in a diverse technical environment and contribute to the evolution of internal support processes and infrastructure as the organization scales.
The IT Support Specialist will serve as a key point of contact for end-user support and infrastructure troubleshooting. The position involves working across Linux, macOS, and Windows systems, supporting everything from laptops and servers to VPNs, Wi-Fi, and collaboration tools. In addition, the IT Specialist will be expected to resolve complex technical issues, implement repeatable solutions, and contribute to documentation, as well as automation efforts.
The role includes both first-line and escalated support for Linux and macOS systems, with secondary coverage for Windows, along with diagnosing and resolving issues at the operating system, network, and application levels. Responsibilities include handling VPN connectivity, performing hardware tasks such as OS deployments and disk imaging, and supporting IT infrastructure components like printers, scanners, and conferencing equipment. Additionally, the IT Specialist will oversee onboarding and offboarding, administer file system permissions and maintain endpoint security, as well as ensure asset inventories and documentation are kept up to date. Clear and empathetic communication with users of varying technical backgrounds is essential.
The ideal candidate must have strong experience in Linux and macOS administration, along with solid Windows knowledge. A deep understanding of networking fundamentals and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues is required. The role requires supporting both technical and non-technical users, with responsibilities that include handling OS installations, hardware-level tasks, and working independently in a fast-paced environments. Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure components, VPN technologies, and remote support tools is essential. The role also demands excellent communication and problem-solving skill, along with fluency in English.
Experience with ticketing systems such as YouTrack or Jira is advantageous, while the ability to automate routine support tasks using scripting languages like PowerShell, Bash, or Python, will be considered a strong advantage. Familiarity with software deployment and patching systems, ITIL practices, and development environments including Docker, Git, and Jenkins is desirable. Relevant certifications such as Linux+, CompTIA A+/Network+, or vendor-specific credentials are also preferred.
