Job description

IT Operations Manager is responsible for supervising the daily functions of the EIA helpdesk and managing all aspects of the technology infrastructure, including desktop systems, notebooks, remote computing, network maintenance and support, telecommunications, and audiovisual systems. The IT Operations Manager will leverage their experience and understanding of technology and the market landscape to collaborate with the Chief Technology Officer on strategic planning and organizational goals.

Responsibilities and duties

  • Manage the daily operation and maintenance of the organization’s technology program, including network support, PC hardware and software installation, configuration, and maintenance.
  • Oversee user support Help Desk operations, providing high-level support for all standard software applications.
  • Develop and maintain IT policies and procedures for the department and organization.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Technology Officer on all technology platform functions and make recommendations.
  • Implement and support technology projects and departmental systems.
  • Serve as the lead resource for technology questions, issues, upgrades, and installations.
  • Assist in hiring, training, counseling, and disciplining departmental staff in coordination with Human Resources; generate performance evaluations.
  • Lead end-user application software training programs, ensuring content is beneficial and relevant.
  • Coordinate with other local Technology department members on product installation, training, and support.
  • Customize training programs to meet local office needs for new hires and ongoing education.
  • Provide third-line support for the helpdesk, troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues, and interacting with manufacturers’ technical support.
  • Maintain data security and disaster recovery measures.
  • Support departmental databases and programs (e.g., Bloomberg).
  • Participate in vendor demonstrations and provide feedback on new products and updates.
  • Stay updated on current and emerging technologies and market trends beneficial to the organization.
  • Lead special projects to completion as needed.
  • Ensure IT operations comply with EIA information security policies and procedures, contributing to their development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; Microsoft certification preferred.
  • 6-8 years of systems management experience, with at least 4 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of PC applications, network administration, and telecommunications; experience with Cisco phone systems is a plus.
  • Experience with systems or application development, business analysis, and project management.
  • Extensive support experience with Microsoft technologies.
  • Practical experience in private equity or finance sectors.
  • Leadership in systems implementation and development projects.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining disaster recovery solutions.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficiency in server and software platforms including Windows Server, Microsoft Exchange, Hyper-V, VMWare, SQL Server (beneficial), Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, and Cisco Call Manager.
