Job Description

We are looking for an Inventory Manager (Reporting to the Head of WIL). This role will play a central role in maintaining the company’s efficiency, which includes the responsibility of overseeing the company’s stock and ensuring it is managed efficiently. The main objective is to strike the perfect balance between having enough stock to meet demand without overloading the warehouse or incurring unnecessary costs. This role holds people management responsibilities.

Key Accountabilities

  1. Inventory Control:
    • Maintain accurate inventory levels by conducting regular stock audits, reconciling discrepancies, and ensuring proper labeling and storage of inventory.
    • Using AI or technology to utilize an inventory management system to reduce errors and improve stock accuracy.
    • Working with the Material Planning team to avoid material shortages that affect production.
    • Manage inventory risk and ensure that contingency plans are in place.
    • Optimize warehouse and storage systems in collaboration with the Warehouse Manager.
  2. Supply Chain Management:
    • Collaborate with the SCM Commodity, Logistics, and Material Planning teams to ensure timely delivery of goods, minimize lead times, and optimize supply chain processes.
  3. Forecasting & Planning:
    • Analyze sales data, market trends, and historical inventory levels to forecast demand and plan inventory replenishment accordingly.
    • Collaborate with the SCM Commodity team to reorder items before they run out.
    • Develop and implement processes for inventory tracking and optimization, including Just-In-Time or Just-In-Case inventory management principles.
  4. Reporting & Analysis:
    • Use inventory data to forecast future demand and identify trends.
    • Prepare and present detailed inventory reports to management including stock levels, turnover rates, and potential inventory issues.
  5. Team Leadership:
    • Manage, coach, and develop a high-performing team that meets agreed objectives and delivers best practice results.
    • Set departmental objectives/KPIs and review ongoing performance of direct reports.
    • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies.

Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree (Preferred): A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field; advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., CIPS, CPSM / APICS).
  • Minimum: 8+ years of experience in Inventory Material Planning, Scheduling & Production Control.
  • Strong leadership skills and experience managing a small team.
  • Aero/Defence exposure is highly beneficial.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Robust analytical and numerical skills, with good presentation skills.
  • Experience with SAP and Microsoft Tools (Excel, Word, Outlook, MS Schedule).
  • Awareness of Logistics processes.
