An Interior Draftsman is responsible for creating detailed and accurate drawings and plans for interior design projects. These drawings serve as a blueprint for contractors, architects, and designers to ensure that the interior spaces are functional, aesthetically pleasing, and in line with the design intent. The role requires a combination of technical drafting skills, creativity, and knowledge of design principles.

Job Description:

• 1. Drawing and Design Creation Prepare detailed technical drawings for interior design projects, including floor plans, elevations, sections, and construction details. Translate conceptual designs and sketches provided by interior designers or architects into accurate, scaled drawings. Create furniture layouts, fixture placements, lighting plans, and material specifications. Ensure all design plans comply with relevant building codes, regulations, and standards.
• 2. Collaborating with Designers and Architects Work closely with interior designers, architects, and project managers to understand the design concept and project requirements. Incorporate feedback and modifications into drafts, ensuring the designs align with the client’s vision and project goals. Communicate and collaborate effectively to resolve any issues related to design or construction.
• 3. 3D Visualization and Modeling Use CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software or other design tools to create 3D models and visualizations of the interior spaces. Assist in presenting design concepts and ideas to clients through visual aids, presentations, or renderings.
• 4. Material and Product Specification Document material specifications, finishes, colors, and textures to be used in the interior design. Assist in sourcing and selecting materials and furnishings, ensuring they meet design standards and client preferences.
• 5. Construction Drawings and Detailing Provide detailed construction drawings and specifications to guide the implementation of the interior design. Produce accurate and clear drawings for contractors and builders to follow, including dimensions, materials, and installation instructions.
• 6. Project Documentation and Updates Maintain organized records of all design drafts, revisions, and finalized plans. Provide regular updates to the project team on the status of drawings and any changes or revisions. Ensure all documents are properly archived for future reference or for regulatory compliance.
• 7. Site Visits and Measurements Conduct site visits to measure spaces, assess existing conditions, and gather information to inform design plans. Ensure that the interior design drawings are feasible based on on-site conditions and make adjustments as necessary.
• 8. Quality Control and Accuracy Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with the design brief. Ensure that all design elements are consistent and meet project requirements.
• 9. Technical Knowledge and Software Skills Proficient in using design and drafting software such as Auto CAD, Sketch Up, Revit, and other relevant tools. Knowledge of construction techniques, building materials, and interior design principles. Ability to adapt designs for functionality, accessibility, and aesthetic appeal.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Education: A degree or diploma in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.
• Experience: Proven experience as an Interior Draftsman or in a similar role, preferably within the interior design or architecture industry.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in Auto CAD, Revit, Sketch Up, or other relevant software. Strong drafting and technical drawing skills. Knowledge of design standards and construction methods.
• Attention to Detail: Ability to produce accurate, precise, and high-quality drawings.
