Job summary

Gulftainer in the United Arab Emirates seeks an experienced Manager - Insurance to lead its global corporate insurance portfolio and claims activity. This hands-on role reports to the Chief Legal Officer and collaborates with internal stakeholders, brokers, legal teams, and external insurers worldwide.

This role involves managing and administering all corporate insurance policies, overseeing claims management, and ensuring compliance with risk and insurance requirements.

Qualifications

We are seeking an experienced Manager - Insurance to manage and oversee the organisation’s global insurance portfolio and claims activity. This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical expertise in corporate insurance, claims management, and risk mitigation, ideally within logistics, ports, shipping, or industrial environments. The role reports directly to Chief Legal Officer and will work closely with internal stakeholders, brokers, legal teams, and external insurers globally.

Responsibilities

Insurance Policy Management

• Manage and administer all corporate insurance policies across global operations.
• Oversee policy renewals, negotiations, and placements with brokers and insurers.
• Drive premium reductions and improved terms through broker management.
• Ensure adequate coverage across all geographies and business lines including: Marine / Cargo, Property & Assets, Liability (General, Professional, P&I where applicable), Operational and infrastructure risks
• Continuously review coverage to ensure alignment with business risk exposure.
• Claims Management
• Handle end-to-end insurance claims process across multiple jurisdictions.
• Assess, prepare, and submit claims documentation in coordination with internal teams.
• Liaise with insurers, loss adjusters, and legal advisors to ensure timely resolution.
• Track and report claims status, recoveries, and trends and drive improved outcomes.
• Drive efficient settlement outcomes and minimise financial exposure.
• Identify and evaluate operational risks and recommend insurance solutions.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and contractual insurance requirements across regions.
• Support contract reviews from an insurance and liability perspective.
• Maintain accurate records of policies, claims, and renewals.
• Stakeholder Management
• Act as the key point of contact for all insurance-related matters internally and externally.
• Work closely with operations, finance, legal, and commercial teams globally.
• Coordinate with brokers to optimise coverage, pricing, and service delivery.
• Reporting & Analysis
• Provide regular reporting on and drive efficiencies and cost reduction across: Claims performance, Insurance costs and renewals, Risk exposure trends
• Support budgeting and forecasting of insurance programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Risk Management, Finance, Law, or related field.
• Professional certifications (e.g. ACII or equivalent) are advantageous.

Required Skills

• 8 + years’ experience in corporate insurance or risk management.
• Strong background in claims handling and policy management.
• Experience within port operations, shipping, logistics, industrial, or infrastructure sectors highly preferred.
• Experience of managing multi-country / global insurance programs.

• Strong understanding of insurance structures and coverage types.
• Proven ability to manage complex, high-value claims.
• Commercially aware with strong negotiation skills.
